You might belong or be on zoochat if you see someone sign their name EM and immediately think of Elephas Maximus
I saw this done on a parrot forum and thought it would be fun to do here:
You might belong or be on zoochat if....
You cringe at the words "meerkat" or "Ring Tailed Lemur"
you go on pilgrimages to the "Congo Gorilla Forest"
You argue about free or protected contact the way other people argue prolife or prochoice.
Your summer plans involve going to the zoo once a week at least.
Your favorite animal growing up wass along thelines of pygmy hippo, jaguarundi, aardwolf, baikal seal or drill.
When you here someone say bongos you think aboutthe forest antelope not the drum.
You know and are disgusted by what a utilitree is.
Let Me Google Thatnope
wtf is pilgrimages
eh... not exactly
I freaking wish
Close enough, anyone who saw my posts know what my favorite animal is
yup
wtf is an utilitree
Down in Melbourne we always called them ‘Brush’ turkeys. You might belong or be on Zoochat if you volunteer at your local zoo, and your fellow volunteers are arguing about whether the wild birds that you have to chase away from prams at the bird and seal shows are called bush turkeys or brush turkeys and you ask if you are the only one who calls them Alectura lathami.
Yes, I use "brush" as well, rather than "bush", which I have found to be more common in Sydney.Down in Melbourne we always called them ‘Brush’ turkeys. The signage in their former enclosure in Growing Wild even had that down!
Ive also heard people refer to them as ‘Bush’; although I assume it’s just confusion due to the close pronunciation.Yes, I use "brush" as well, rather than "bush", which I have found to be more common in Sydney.
Most are wild, but some do belong to the zoo.I assume those are wild Brush Turkeys within Taronga?
Those guys were everywhere when I visited last year. Even roaming through the car park; at one point causing a traffic jam!

I'm guessing you mean Great Slaty Woodpecker, rather than Salty?Your friend sees an average grey bird, while you see the last Great Salty Woodpecker in captivity.
Sorry for the Typing Error! Thank you for spotting my mistake!I'm guessing you mean Great Slaty Woodpecker, rather than Salty?![]()
