On July 26th, it was reported that the zoo transferred (1.1) fennec foxes named Trooper and Hokess to The Maritime Aquarium in Connecticut.

A male black howler monkey has arrived to join the zoos two females: Helen and Hayden who are all behind the scenes at Jungle Trails.

The three female Crowned Guenon's are still at the zoo just also backstage while Jungle Trails undergoes some renovations.

At some point over the last year an Aardwolf passed away leaving just one behind in Cincinnati.

The zoo received a new male Six-Banded Armadillo after the former male moved to another zoo per breeding recommendation.

After moving out the younger males, there are now four Mantled Guereza left: Tiberius, the two adult females, and a most recent baby.

Three new Domestic Rabbits have joined the animal ambassador team along with 5 Domestic Rats and a Virginia Opossum.

The zoo also lost its female alpaca Marry leaving male Nestle's Quick and Willy in the barnyard.

The zoo actually moved out it's female Guereza Colobus, leaving Tiberius and his son's TJ, Octavius, and Maximus in a bachelor group

Glad to hear they’re still there! Haven’t seen them in years but I see the signage is there still, but knowing that they’re rotated with the sifakas maybe I just visit the wrong days. Not sure how renovations would impact their rotation.

Noticed this when I only saw one starting last year. Never decided to look into it more as I avoided facing the inevitable but what a shame, really :(.

The primates were having some trouble with the renovation noises when in the outdoor habitat is what I heard from a volunteer a little while ago when I was back in town.

Thank you Grant! My apologies for my incorrect source. Glad to know the boys are still there as they are a joy to watch!
 
Does anyone know what species are currently located at the zoo's Bowyer Farm? Mammal wise I know there is Cheetah, Okapi, and African Painted Dog but was wondering what birds the farm still had? I know they used to breed Andean Condor for release out their but is that project still going on?

There are no animals kept at Bowyer Farm.

Unsure of what currently resides there besides the bulk of the zoo's cheetah collection. But I know the male Okapi "Kiloro" has lived there when not being paired with the female at the zoo. In addition there was Siberian Cranes, Tufted Deer, and a few Painted Dogs from a separate litter than what lives at the park.

Thank you Grant! Kiloro moved back to the zoo for a little bit last year hence the okapi pregnancy but he is back out at the farm now. The Painted Dogs that have the cheese names (2.2) are still there but the Tufted Deer is gone. Hopefully the Siberian Crane is still out at the farm as well!

The complex was initially scheduled to open in the summer of 2024, so it's exciting to hear the Dublin group have already arrived.

I'd imagine they'd be in quarantine going into early next year (at least for a month or two), before the other females are moved over to be introduced.

My hope is the complex has been fast tracked and will be open sooner rather than later.:)

Before I moved out to San Diego, I was talking with one of the keepers and they were saying that the following is the current plan after the Dublin herd arrives: Once the Dublin herd has arrived at completed quarantine at the new complex, Sabu will return to Cincinnati and live at Elephant Trek. The goal is to get the females pregnant for the opening of the habitat. Meanwhile the older girls will remain at Elephant Reserve. Then right before the new habitat's opening, Mai Thai, Schottzie, and Jati will be moved down to Elephant Trek leaving the reserve vacant. Introduction wise, it sounds like Mai Thai will be moved into the Dublin herd due to issues with Jati picking on her recently causing Mai Thai to have to live separately from the two original cows. Meanwhile Schottzie and Jati will remain in their own herd as they are both extremely dominant animals that would have trouble with Yasmin.
 
I saw the video on social media this morning of them in their new area in Elephant Trek. I know its probably impossible for us to know, but I wonder if animals like people develop certain accents due to living in certain countries. Perhaps maybe the Dublin cows will sound like they have a bit of an Irish accent to Mai Thai. Wishful thinking but I think that'd be pretty cool if it were true!

If I remember coirrectly isn't Jati a Malaysian and a bit on the smaller side? The Dublin cows should be able to hold their own against her right especially since its 4 (Dublins) against one (Jati)?
