Clinton Keeling

Just stumbled across this thread again.

I note the biography of Clin never seemed to make any progress but I am currently working on preparing his final "Where The..." book for publication (in one form or another), having received his part-completed typescript some years ago.

As to the man himself I think the previous posts sum him up pretty well.

Is that as a Bartlett Society reprint?

Well, it can't be a reprint - as it never got a first print run, having been unfinished at the time of Keeling's death!

This is really encouraging, would it be possible to have a biographical essay on Clin as a preface to the book?

I also knew Mr Keeling for a while, as I had joined the Zoological Society of Ashover Zoo (our closest zoo.) Full marks for the education work and enthusiasm. However I was dismayed that he fully supported old fashioned zoos. I worked at Ashover Zoo after he had left. His ex-wife Jill, another formidable character, took over and there were talks of modernisation, starting off with the dreadful bear accommodation. Of course it closed and I moved to Chester, a much better prospect.
Hello, I hope you don't mind me asking but was your maiden name Bowling?
