300+ Different Zoos Visited

Sorry for bumping this topic, but I came across an article about Steven van den Heuvel who also should have hit the 1000+ barrier. I cannot find a list of the zoos visited, but for sure it's an impressive amount.
Mijlpaal: Nederlander bezoekt duizend verschillende dierentuinen

As I came past this topic I was curious what the status is on the number of zoos visited for the people named in this topic?

Thanks for posting this link and it's an extraordinary achievement to have visited 1,000 zoos by the age of 34. Wow!

I know that Jonas Livet is probably at around 1,500 zoos, Tai Motofumi is at maybe 1,100, Steven van den Heuvel just hit 1,000 and Tim Brown recently surpassed 920 zoos. Those are the 4 that I'm aware of with such big numbers, but perhaps there are others out there. I'm personally at 551 zoos, but these other guys are far ahead of me and I don't know if I would make it into the top 15 worldwide.

Well, when there is a thread talking about me it is a good moment to start here on Zoochat. I have been reading here for a long time but never made an account.

Indeed I was Lucky enough to have visit my 1000th zoo recently in Australia.
Most of the zoos visited were, off course, in Europe. But I have also seen about 80 zoos in North-America, 60 in Asia and about 100 in Oceania by now among several in Africa and South America.

For me the USA is the new place to go, with only about 70 seen there is a lot to discover there.
The top 100 zoos in the USA book helps a lot to plan trips there.

I look forward to talk to you all here and discuss any interesting zoo staff in the future!

Hoi Steven :)

Took you some time to pop up, I thought you might have been lurking around here. You’ve been busy apparantly since I last heard of you under a different nickname.

Reading your tripreports with your pal Zoeff are among my fondest Dutch Zoosite memories :) those were the days… it’ll take me a few more years to enter this list, only made it to 90 sofar.

Hello everyone!

As of today, I am actually at 1,832 different zoological institutions visited (2,805 visits in total), having added recently 8 zoos in Madagascar during a month-long wildlife trip on the island.

With a mean of 80+ new zoos per year over the last decade, I am looking at reaching 2,000 institutions somewhere by beginning of 2026 probably. ;-)

Jonas

Yeah, still very active in the zoo communiteit but not very much on forums and social media topicstarter. Good to hear you are still visiting zoos as well!

Congrats @StevenHolland, what a milestone!! And of course @Jonas Livet , you remain the gold standard!!

I've still got such a long way to go and I'm 1 away from relevance in this thread! Stuck at 299 after not having time to visit Tsimbazaza Zoo in Madagascar, despite passing through the capital 7 times! :(

Actually I miscounted, so I actually did hit 300 in Madagascar 300!
