Here's an article about the Amur leopard: Dartmoor Zoo welcomes 'world's rarest big cat'
Impressive to see and I'll go to Dartmoor in the future to see him that's for sureYesterday morning, I was invited to Dartmoor Zoo to get a first view of Freddo (Pronounced Fray-Doh) the Amur Leopard who has arrived from Bellewaerde in Belgium.
The 9yo, was originally born at the Highland Wildlife Park, and was meant to be part of the captive release programme which was halted a few years ago at Highland. He has since moved to The Big Cat Sanctuary and then latterly to Bellewaerde. He has now arrived at Dartmoor Zoo and the long term plan is to build another exhibit to house a female Amur Leopard and then to hopefully breed the pair, with cubs entering the rear and release program.
As a significant sponsor of the exhibit, I was invited down to see him with other VIP guests and press yesterday morning, and I thought I would upload some images of him and his exhibit.
He will be on show to the public from the 26th November.

They were a beautiful pair. I presented the first cheetah talk following his death. It was tough.Sad news
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful cheetah, Tibo.
You can't really talk about Tibo without talking about his brother, Baro. They acted like true brothers, squabbling over food but then grooming each other and cuddling up at night. They had the best vantage point in the zoo, and you could often find them looking out from the top of their mound, ready to greet all the visitors!
Despite living in our zoo for seven years, they never really appreciated the wet weather - but who could blame them when they had a gorgeous, heated house to retreat to?
Tibo was the more feisty brother behind the scenes, always greeting you with a sassy attitude, but he was a foodie at heart and with a little bribery, all would be forgiven, and if you were lucky, he might have even given you a special Tibo purr.
Baro is currently doing really well despite the circumstances and we will continue to monitor his welfare, but the keepers are pleased with how he is responding so far, which is all any of us can ask for!
Tibo will be terribly missed by everyone here on site, but especially his keepers who worked with him every day and we would love for you to share any photos you have in the comments, to remember this special boy.
The brother-sister pair came from Flamingo Land and have recently been named Baiame (Named after the creator god of several SE Australian Aboriginal peoples) and Kiah ("From a beautiful place").Two laughing kookaburra have recently joined the Dartmoor family!
