I wouldn’t know unfortunately, not sure if anyone on here would. I’m not sure if some of the keepers would know but I can ask for you next time I’m there. If I find out I’ll send you a message.

Post about Lope: Log in to Facebook | Facebook I believe he will be leaving next week.
If he is still going to the Zoo d'Arcachon in France, another similar aged male (Aybo) has recently been sent there from Rotterdam. As they have two male groups/trios planned I'm not 100% sure they will be together but I think so as the other is already in situ.. I think they will form the 2nd trio with the silverback Dishi.

I believe the plan is still to send him to Zoo d'Arcachon.

Welcome to the waddle, Limpet! Watch our newest addition as he meets his new family for the first time! Limpet arrived at the Safari Park a few weeks ago from Twycross Zoo and has settled in amazingly! Went to Twycross today, figured the misty freezing weather would mean it was fairly quiet and it wasn’t too bad visitor wise.

Didn’t expect to see much but quite a few animals ventured outdoors or were visible in their houses. Some nice native birds too including a very bold heron standing around in the penguin pool.

Got a good view of the dusky langurs in particular which was fun. The gorillas ventured outside for some food which was a positive as even with less visitors the glass bangers were out in force (there and at the chimps).

A keeper confirmed the tufted deer are still there but (sadly) off show as all the area including the lemur walkthrough is boarded off for the new developments noted above though obviously no work in progress.

The enclosure that had Pygmy marmosets in it near the black rhinos / wetland is now all fenced off (with garden fence panels which looks a little odd) though all the lights were on. The marmosets and titi monkeys are now in a less isolated enclosure which seemed a positive move.

Nice to see a young vicuña. Not sure if it was being weaned or something else but it was isolated from the adults and running about calling out.

The small birds in the Gruffalo area were not on show which was a bit of a shame as I’d hoped to see the bengalese finches but it clearly wasn’t the weather for it.

A few more animals around in the space since my previous visit though a lack of birds (a hammerkop) in the aviary that had some nice pheasant before. Though there were three milky eagle owls. Last visit the snake area wasn’t open but that was fun to have a look at.

Good to see the new parrots.

It was great that you had a nice. You might of saw me as I was there today too haha. Strangely I was told the tufted deer had left a few weeks ago, was it a keeper that confirmed it or a member of the education team in red?

Member of the education team radioed the mammal section keeper on duty after I asked if they were on show.

We probably did pass each other there weren't many folk!

Wouldn't be surprised if they had or were about to leave though, it doesn't make much sense to have them off show for the foreseeable future with no where else to put them and no timeline on any new area.

Whether they have already left or are still there, any indication of what is happening with them?

ZTL shows them as a ‘former’ holder but it doesn’t appear to show where they have gone or are going. Would be a shame if they leave the U.K. though.

Very sad to hear the Tufted Deer are/have gone, have only really managed to see them once.

Someone could have easily seen on here the comment a few weeks ago that they had left, and then updated ZTL. Seen that happen before. When I visited earlier in the year, they had mother and daughter with no male and said they were actively looking for a male to join them and that was when I done a full day experience there. So it would be disappointing if in the space of a few of months they've gone from looking for a male for them, to having them leave the collection.

When I asked they I was told they left the zoo. Unless the keeper meant they’ve moved one deer and there is still another deer at the zoo waiting to move.

On my trip I wasn’t able to see Coco or Holly (the chimpanzees) when the group was being fed they didn’t make an appearance either. I wasn’t able to talk to a great ape keeper as it was a chilly day and I didn’t see many about. @Lafone did you manage to see Coco (the ‘chocolate’ chimp) or Holly?

I don't know the chimps well enough to recognise Holly from the others I am afraid, but I did see Coco, albeit asleep on one of the high nest platforms.
