The giraffe barn caught on fire this afternoon, killing both giraffes. One was a new animal; they've only ever had one on my visits, the most recent being October. It's only been a few hours, so no report on cause or anything yet. All other animals are okay, according to the article. No other animals share that barn, and it seems to have been stopped before it could spread to the yellow building or nearby trees.

I'm at a loss for words. Condolences would provide emotional support but no fiscal support in case Roer's decided to obtain giraffes once more. I can't imagine what the staff are going through.

Same. I have mixed feelings about the zoo itself, but they've been improving a lot, and no one deserves to have this happen (especially the giraffes). I'd planned on going this saturday to visit the cheetah boys, I'm not sure if they'll be open or not.

the Roer's zoofari is under new management since the accident in 2021 where a fire broke out and killed both giraffes it is officially under new management and also under a new name now called NOVA wild

It's new owners, not just new management. And it's not since the fire, they sold it last winter, over a year after.

IIRC they own a similar park in Arizona as well.

The former owners have a facility near the AZ/NM border, yes. That one they started from scratch, whereas this facility was owned by someone else before them.

Does any recent visitor have thoughts on this place? I'm kind of local so I've thought about visiting but this place's negative past (even if owners have changed hands multiple times) has kept me from going. Thoughts on the enclosures and general care of the animals?

I haven't been since the latest change. Under the previous owners, they were clearly working on improving, hiring better keepers, etc but it was fairly slow going, especially after the barn fire set them back a lot financially.
