Earlier this year a pair of Red-tailed amazons (Amazona brasiliensis) arrived at the zoo, Zürich is now also the coordinator of the European breeding program of this species. The future young of this couple will eventually be visible in the new Pantanal aviary in 2028.

Do you know where the birds were acquired from. In Brasil this Amazon species is also subject of a recovery and reintroduction program which is assisting with populations to become re-established and recover.

Sadly I do not, their website gives some more information, but doesn't mention where they are from.
