Africa Alive and Banham Zoo Redundancies

Yes, but where will they maintain the Rueppell's vultures in future?
How many breeding pairs do they have anyway?

They have a free flight enclosure which also houses guineafowl.

They also used to fly in the bird show but that's in an adjacent area.

I believe they have a breeding pair as they've flown younger vultures and mentioned it in the talk. But them not flying them doesn't mean they wouldn't maintain them there, it was just a highlight of the bird show (which also had some other lovely things flying) as they flew a group vs a bird alone.

Having been bombarded with emails offering various deals over the last 6 months I have received 2 more in the last few days.
Cheap tickets for January and now 30% off annual passes! They are trying very hard to get the visitors in, but at £66 an adult pass is still not cheap( but more realistic now for what you get).

Works out at under £6 a month. Problem is, when they drop entry to £10-12 a time, it defeats the point of annual membership, as unless you are very local and go once a month, you're better off buying each time you visit. I got an annual pass earlier in year when discounted and used 4 times this year. But I would need to go 3-4 more times until it expires based on the current admission prices.

The other issue for them with what is becoming almost permanent cyclical discounting is that's what people will expect so they won't pay full price as it hasn't got the 'value'.

Forces a permanent drop in prices or push back from the public on 'what good value it used to be' when it was all being discounted.

There's little reason to pay full price given the number of offers they are running.

As they need to generate much improved footfall on discount days, when people expect discounts, the risk is footfall can drop off more. Discounting is tricky.

Succinct and very well put.
Devalues the 'brand', and punishes the loyal, regular visitors who have paid good money for season tickets, only to find them undermined by 'deals'...
