This. I've been behind the scenes, and I've seen their off-show enclosure, but not the cloudrunners themselves.
Yesterday, this deal was successfully closed and the zoo got keys from enlargement area. It will start with some cleaning and demolishion works in next weeks.

Is this a zoo first breeding for Plzen?
No. The zoo bred chimpansees several times before. However, if the current baby survives, it will be the first reared chimpansee of subspecies troglodytes (central African). The other young animal in the group is Caila (born in 2020) but she is a hybrid with 75% of troglodytes blood.
A male white-faced saki born in 2020 has been sent to Faruk Yalçın Zoo in Turkey.
The zoo received permit to continue to keep and breed muntjacks and nutrias. Both species are on EU invasive species list and thus overall prohibited since last year.

Thus it sent them both into breeding situation to France (d´ Auvergne) in dec 2022. Meanwhile, the goral house received repairs. And in Nov 2023, a new pair arrived - 3 years old female from Plock and a 1 year old male from Prague.

Fat sand rats (Psammomys obesus obesus) recently arrived and they moved on show shortly after. Plzen is currently the only zoo in Czechia with this species.

I was recently going through my photos from my trip to Plzen last November (2023) and I found a video of a bird I'm pretty sure is a male Hill Partridge (Arborophila torqueola). If this is the case this species would only currently be found in Walsrode and Plzen in all European collections. Can anyone else corroborate this?
