Wildlife watching in Singapore

Hello. After my visit in October 2023, I fell in love with Singapore. I will visit this spring, and while there are many other helpful threads about the zoos and aquariums, I haven’t yet seen any threads discussing solely about wildlife watching, and good areas for wildlife in Singapore. I visited the following areas last time, and the ones that have * are ones that I haven’t visited. I would like to know more information about these places such as the best time to see wildlife, the what areas shine light to certain species, and maybe some local hot-spot knowledge ;).

1. Sunda Colugo(all time(?)): central catchment, mandai wildlife reserve, bukit batok nature park

2. Sunda pangolin(night): central catchmemt, bukit timah hill, extremely rare in urban areas

3. Asian Water Monitor(all time): everywhere

4. Smooth-coated Otter(dawn, dusk): bishan-ang mo kio park, marina bay sands, gardens by the bay, botanic gardens, coney island, kallang

5. Wild Boar/Banded Pig(dusk): pulau ubin, punggol, central catchment, chestnut, etc

6. Common Palm Civet(night): siglap, opera estate, central catchment, rare in urban areas

7. Saltwater Crocodile(day): sungei buloh, pasir ris, marina east, west coast park, most areas with large bodies of water

8. Raffles' banded langur(day): central catchment

9. Long-tailed macaque(day): everywhere

10. Oriental Pied Hornbill(day): sungei buloh, pulau ubin, sometimes seen in urban areas

11. Straw-headed bulbul(day): central catchment, bukit batok, pulau ubin

12. White-bellied Sea Eagle(day): sungei buloh, pulau ubin, sentosa, southern islands

I saw the video on Kimprioritywildlife channel of the King Bop

speaking of Kimpriority, is it true that the spotted wood owls left their nest in Pasir Ris?

Also, how long does it take to explore Pulau Ubin, and can I manage it in a day? Is there certain wildlife that I should wait for and see in the night while camping?

Which area in the reserve did you see it?

We saw it on the way back from Jelutong Tower heading back towards Rifle Range Rd along the Rifle Range Link. It was an excellent walk; only 1.5km each way to Jelutong Tower and back. We saw tons of wildlife in just under two hours many of which were new species for me.

Is it possible to see a pangolin on a early morning hike?

I think it's possible but probably unlikely, though it's all about luck and I would definitely still recommend the walk either way. Aside from this there is also Bukit Batok Nature Park which luckily for you is open 24hrs. I haven't visited but it is a site where pangolin have been seen so maybe you could do a night walk here?
