New year, new thread. Visited today - not too much to report but:

• The little side enclosure at the far end of the Blackburn walkthrough (formerly oriole aviary) has been done up and is apparently awaiting new inhabitants. Given the great work done by the bird curator in recent times, hopeful that it'll be something nice.
• Lilac breasted rollers now in the Blackburn walkthrough as well as the side enclosures.
• Neither of the tunnels were closed today or a few days ago - wonder if the works will happen a bit later?
• Part of the separation barrier between the okapi outdoors has been opened up - not sure what it might mean but...
• Mongooses elusive as ever...

Good news - the matting covering the interior den of the new mongooses has been removed, pleasingly after about 5 mins, I saw one of them poke a head out from a nestbox.

And then on my return, as I left, a mongoose ran into a nestbox as I approached. They are clearly still very shy.

Sadly 3 year old Okapi, Ede, was PTS last week due to lameness, she wasn't responding to any treatment.

I sure hope so! I am going to be there March 11th and would be rather disappointed if it is not open by then.

Wow, fantastic news. Hopefully this is the start of some much needed luck for London's gorilla troop.

Awesome to hear that Mjukuu has successfully given birth! A female would be great for London's troop.

It's also nice to see that Kiburi was able to get the job done rather quickly after only arriving fourteen months ago.

This is fantastic news for London. It has not been an easy ride with the Gorilla's in Regent's Park, so hopefully this is a turning point and the first of many!
