On October 18th, it was announced that the zoo transferred (2.0) Humboldt penguins Chive and Quaver to the Dudley Zoo in the West Midlands.

On January 31st, the zoo announced that a (0.1) Kunekune pig named Oscar passed away on January 25th at age 14 due to a recent illness.

On February 25th, the zoo announced that the otter was named Thiên Thần.

On March 17th, the zoo announced that (0.0.16) red-necked wallabies were born which are on display in the Australian Walkabout exhibit.

On March 24th, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) slender-tailed meerkat was born which is on display in the Desert Springs exhibit.

Sad news

It is with very heavy hearts that we have to share the devastating news that after a recent illness, Dakota the African lioness has passed away

On Thursday 18th April Dakota's dedicated team of specialist vets and keepers had to come to the difficult decision to euthanize her.

Vets and keepers came to the sad conclusion that Dakota's quality of life had declined rapidly due to her illness and advancing age at almost 19 years-old, and it was decided that the kindest thing to do would be to put her to sleep.

She was a striking lioness with a big personality, who could often be seen interacting with other members of the Pride and enjoying enrichment made by her keepers throughout her years.

She will be hugely missed by all who knew her but particularly by her keepers, some of whom have worked with her for many years.
 
My thoughts go out to the team who worked with Dakota and her pride.

But having said that, to have nearly made it to 19 years old is pretty good for a lion. So Dakota was clearly a fighter

The Meerkat pup has received the name of GILLY.

Does Woburn still house patas monkey as they’re listed on ztl however couldn’t see anything about them in my most recent trip

ZTL isn't as reliable as many on this site think it is, particularly for the UK, I know a good number of respected zoonerds who do know there stuff who stopped editing because they would believe people who don't have a clue. Also some places don't get visited as often and as a result they get missed and the species they have listed contain a good number that they haven't held for sometime as a result.
