Kansas City Zoo announced today that Phoebe has moved there from Wildlife Safari. Bintang, who was born at Topeka Zoo and previously lived at Kansas City, moved to Wildlife Safari on a breeding recommendation:

This 2 1/2 -year-old tiger recently arrived from Oregon’s @wildlife.safari, which also happens to be the new home for our former resident, Bintang, who transferred last month per a breeding recommendation from @zoos_aquariums' Species Survival Plan (SSP). Phoebe made her public habitat debut this morning, and the inquisitive 180-pound female has been busy exploring her new KCZoo surroundings. The SSP makes decisions on placement and mating of animals to ensure the genetic diversity of this endangered species and hope for its future. Unfortunately, less than 400 Sumatran tigers have been recorded in the wild, primarily due to habitat loss and poaching. 1.1 cubs (named “Hutan” and “Puteri”) were born at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park on July 12th to first-time mom, “Diana” and sire “Dumai”.

We also lost Hattiesburg as a holder, as Kipling was their only Sumatran Tiger and they replaced him with Bunga, who is a Malayan Tiger.

They already have Malayan Tigers, and they just recently had 3 cubs. I don't know whether they will bring back Sumatrans or not.

I wonder what the Smithsonian National Zoo's plan is for Sumatran tigers? The Great Cats area infrastructure has been under construction for a while with one of the three habitats closed, which may be why they currently have so few tigers at the zoo. But they currently just have one Sumatran tiger, Damai, who is pretty elderly at 15 years old, and two Amur tigers, Nikita and Metis, who have never successfully bred (and there's a decent chance that younger tiger Metis will be transferred somewhere else soon.)
Do you think the Smithsonian will acquire a breeding pair of Sumatran tigers in the future when Damai passes away, or do you think they'll focus entirely on Amur tigers?

I think based off of the success in the past year or two there is a good chance that they might bring in a new young breeding pair. I also agree with you, I think Metis will probably get moved to another facility or vice versa. There are many contenders within the population right now.

Clarence’s mother is Kaitlyn (2007), who was imported by Australia Zoo from Indonesia in 2008.

The plan is to relocate Memphis's current breeding male, Gusti to another facility initially. And then send the other two individuals away eventually, leaving Memphis with a single female (Pemanah's intended mate).
Considering the age of Dari (Memphis's current breeding female), I'd imagine Pemanah's intended mate is Suci (2023).
Re. Point Defiance, their current male is Sanjiv who was acquired last year to breed with their two females, both of whom are in their upper breeding years now. Mawar's of a better age breeding wise, so they may choose to focus on her going forward.
Dari is 9.5 years and has previously bred (as recently at last year), so this stands her in good stead for conceiving again. Tigresses in her demographic (previous breeders, recent litters) have bred successfully into their early teens at other zoos. Ultimately I imagine it’ll depend on how soon the Taronga tigers can be imported. Suci won’t be able to breed until at least late 2026/early 2027, so they might prefer to breed Pemanah sooner (with Dari) if there’s the opportunity to do so.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanjiv is Mawar’s intended mate. PD have held multiple males in the past, so could even bring in a new male.
Either way, I’m excited to follow the progress of these two. North America will surely make better use out of them than Australasia would have been able to (due to their representation).
Does anyone know why Eko at Jackson Zoo was never moved out? It just does not make sense that they are holding a mother/son pair. Are his genes of any value?
