Sorry for the absence during a busy time of updates. Just wanted to let everyone know that scores have been tabulated up to this point (including the post you just made @Kudu21).

A couple errors to address:
12. Golden Eagle Aquila chrysaetos
12. Gyrfalcon Falco rusticolus

You counted 12. twice in your first post, so you are at 22 and your next update should start at 23.

67. West African Croc (Crocodylus suchus)
71. Halls Croc (Crocodylus halli)

While arguably these are legitimate species, IUCN has been slow on all the croc reclassification that has happened in the last decade or two and does not recognize these. For West African Crocodile, there is also the fact that a research paper found a large portion of "niloticus" in US zoos are actually suchus, so there's no clear distinction between the two in captivity here anyway.

I'll still count the Hall's as New Guinea Crocodile (novaeguineae), but I'm gonna lump your suchus under your earlier niloticus. This will put you at 76.

Same rule applies for anyone else going forward also. Dwarf Croc is another species that should be counted as a single type, not multiple.

While I won't argue the rules, I do want to point out that the Gator farm (in partnership with UF) is one of the leaders in genetic research of crocodilians. While being toured this came up in conversation. The genetic testing on their two pairs came up with purity of suchus, and why they have been actively trying to breed them. My biggest question was whether the O. osborni was mixed or pure I was told pure. Again, 99.9% of facilities that would tell me that about their crocs, even senior staff, I'd still have my reservation about it, but given it's the gator farm I do believe them

@PSO Oh I had no doubts about St. Augustine legitimately having suchus, I'd trust them on their identifications in a heartbeat for the reasons you just said. The issue relates to the last part of what you said, about having reservations trusting a lot of other facilities to make that distinction. It's easier for me to give everyone a blanket ruling (i.e. all "Niles" are counted as one) than for me to decide subjectively on a case-by-case basis many times whether I think a zoo's ID is trustworthy or not. Less work, confusion and back-and-forth for everyone involved is the way I see it - and this way somebody doesn't need to visit the "right" facility to count something.

To bring up an example from last year, San Diego has true Vervet - but I still counted Chlorocebus as one because I didn't trust that other zoos actually had true Grivets.

This also happens to be a rare example where we *know* from genetic research that a lot of zoos have misidentified crocodiles, rather than it just being a possibility.

-----------

Also, as a clarification for everybody: this wasn't an ad-hoc change, I intended to do this for crocs from the start and simply forgot to address it when I launched the game - so my apologies for that, I take responsibility for any confusion.

Lol understand and appreciate my friend (I remember the Chlorocebus controversy)

Sorry for the mistake, but I just realized there was one other species that I forgot to mention I saw on the 14th at Zoo Miami:

35. Gray Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus)

I have just come to learn that I made a second mistake with my Florida tallies (my apologies). It turns out that the 'Silky Sharks' at the Frost Museum of Science were mis-signed, and are actually Sandbar Sharks (Carcharhinus plumbeus). Sorry for the mistake; I'm not a good enough shark IDer to always know when signage is wrong about something like that, and I assumed the signage would be reliable considering they're one of the larger and higher profile species in the museum.
