Welcome to Wildscreen ARK! - Wildscreen

"We are bringing back the world’s biggest online nature education and inspiration hub, Wildscreen ARK!

Co-created with young people and working with educators, photographers and filmmakers, Wildscreen ARK will be a place for young people to discover and grow their passion for nature, and find out ways they can support it.

Wildscreen ARK will incorporate a wide range of high-quality nature photography and video content, allowing young people to explore the natural world.

Alongside an extensive collection of species profiles and educational materials, this content will cover themes of the natural world such as animal behaviours, adaptations, biological concepts, taxonomic classifications, threats and conservation actions.

Launching in early 2024, the Wildscreen ARK prototype will focus on UK species. We plan to expand the focus to global species after this initial phase, so no matter where you are, your support is valued!
"

Needless to say.... I am very excited about this !
Happy days for the internet are to arrive! :D

I hope that the EAZA, AZA, and other zoo unions join this to provide as much material as possible.

Imagine all the material of animals that zoos can provide about the animal world.

I think there will be an emphasis on younger audiences in the initial stages - but as the new ARK expands it will become more and more generalised for a wider reach.

But I do think this would be a very good idea.

Well that's still good. And you can still collab with zoos by having activities and crap that are synergistic with zoo visits.

Very fortunate! I was afraid I’d have to wait a couple decades for the “future generations” to come around.

One thing definitely isn’t coming back, though; the Egg and Spawn Race. Anyone remember that? Screen Shot 2017-09-04 at 1.53.12 PM.jpegScreen Shot 2017-09-04 at 2.04.18 PM.jpegScreen Shot 2017-09-04 at 1.52.29 PM.jpegScreen Shot 2017-09-04 at 2.03.34 PM.jpeg

Wildscreen ARK
It's here! Now my thoughts...
It's certainly different from where was left off. One's not quite so bombarded by a multimedia presentation on the homepage... and as a whole it's a bit clunky for the time being.
In addition to browsing by taxonomy, one is also able to browse on other things, such as adaptation or behaviour. And given many of these relate to animals outside the UK, the intention seems to fully be to expand in future.
Though that is to say that the animal profiles themselves are a bit 'compact' in my opinion. You only have immediate access to a lead picture, alongside with a brief description [I would say briefer than what was before] of the species in question; but access to the 'Gallery' allows for as a fine selection of photographs as ever. If only they weren't constrained to a little box at the top so we could see them in full glory...
So still a way to go methinks [though I am talking as a computer-orientated dinosaur; and acknowledge this site may well have been designed with mobile devices in mind], but all in all a fine prototype. I look forward to seeing what becomes of it.

When I saw the title, I really hoped the legendary ARKive is back! What a content they had ...like video of falanouc!
