The baby radiated tortoises are now on display at the reptile house currently. They made the announcement today so when you get a chance look for them.

this is cool!, the zoo shared that they made a neck-brace for one of their Peruvian Jumping Stick Insects after it had a bad molt, I have never heard of using a brace in an invert before.

According to the zoo map Jack's Cafe is opening in 2025. It's going to be in the front part of the zoo.

This is not the correct date but my date is assume it will open it will probably be in Spring/Summer 2025. I might be wrong you can correct me if I am wrong but I'm really excited for this and Birds of the World (opening likely this fall).

The only info I know for the Jacks Cafe opening is just 2025 no specific time of the year

There will be 3 aviaries focusing on North America, South America, and Africa (planned to open fall 2024)

according to this document, the Houston Zoo will be receiving a 1.0 Pygmy Hippopotamus from the San Francisco Zoo! excited to see the zoo continuing with this species after the unfortunate passing of Silas.

Funny they say jumping stick it's a horse head grasshopper not a stick insect very cool inverts I have a few here

I do not, but considering this document is for March events, I assume by the end of the month, or he has already arrived in Houston and is in quarantine, in any case its currently all speculation and will have to wait for Houston Zoo to announce it on their socials

I just started a new AMA thread where I shared some information on Birds of the World if you're interested.

Azure-winged Magpies have moved into World of Primates right across from the coquerel's sifaka/crowned lemurs

The new Birds of the World exhibit should be opening in fall of 2024, sometime around October 20th, as confirmed by new barriers and the 2024 Zoo Ball webpage:

^ also shows some concept art for the walkthrough flamingo/South American aviary and the small woodland North American aviary.

The Zoo Ball donation tiers also confirm a few species for the exhibit, including:
-Grey Crowned Cranes (featured in the concept art, and represent a big conservation connection for the zoo's partners in Rwanda)
-Trumpeter Hornbill (In the African aviary)
-Scarlet Ibis (in the South American Aviary)
-Painted Bunting (in the NA woodland aviary)
-Eastern Bluebird (in the NA woodland aviary)
