On January 29th, it was announced that the zoo transferred a (1.0) burrowing owl named Joe Burrow to the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Ohio.

Unfortunately, introductions between gorillas Jameela and Gracie were not successful. Now, efforts have turned to another female, Fred, in hopes that she could be Jameela’s surrogate mother.

A video has gone viral of two keepers placing food in the gorilla exhibit, when the silverback is let out into the exhibit:

The silverback in question is Elmo, a 34 year old parent-reared male.

Is there more to that exhibit than what's shown? If not, that feels like a really dismal little grotto, easily worse than any gorilla exhibit I've seen in person.

Scary video. But I dont see any ‚expertise and knowledge‘ of the 2 unlucky keepers. They wait until he moves into the other direction and then run like hell. It‘s typical zoo propaganda to claim being able to run is ‚expertise and knowledge‘.

In bittersweet news, baby Gorilla Jameela will be leaving for Cleveland Metroparks Zoo after attempts to pair her with a surrogate here at Fort Worth failed. There is a Gorilla at Cleveland who has experience being a surrogate so there is hope that she will adopt Jameela

On December 27th, it was announced that the zoo transferred a (0.1) red wolf named Chicora to The Texas Zoo in Texas.

The zoo announced that they bred Tiger River Stingrays back in 2022(weird they are only announcing it now). At the time they were the first zoo to breed this species of ray. They had four pups born and one of the females is on display in the new education center.

For the first time in like years, the social media account showed off the Merriam's Kangaroo Rats in their habitat in the Mountains and desert building in Texas Wild, I may be reading too much into it, but I hope this means they are reopening the building soon.
