safari parks dont seem to have much success with zebra! knowsley have none now! perhaps it is due to too much space with too much green grass?

That seems like a small number for a major Safari park Bob?

Longleat have only just started to upload data to ISIS. It is possible that the information is wrong. My first thought was exactly the same as yours Mark.

As far as I know Longleat has started uploading to ISIS in 1/4/2008. I have noted some inputs before for Longleat. However, if one checks ISIS nowadays they do not list any white rhino (which I am sure they still have as new females were imported from South Africa amidst much media reporting).

Too much grass ... is a joke as zebras are non ruminant grazers ... so that should not be at issue here! Hence, best guess is the curator or registrar has been incapacitated of some sort ... ! ;)

Didnt longleat have the problem where most of the babies born were male and eventually they had to bring in some more females?

Knowsleys had problems with the grass or something growing in the grass. the only one that ever thrived there was a foal born on site that lived for 20 odd years!

What does grass have to do with the Zebra numbers a park would keep?

Hope they get them back again they are a key species in a safari park! Knowsley does not seam to be the same as it used to be , hope they introduce some more species.
