Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

Exactly, seeing more variety in the domestic animals featured would have been amazing. I like the highland cattle but replacing the goats pigs and maybe sheep with other breeds like African pygmy goat and Vietnamese pot belly pig would have been great. And other breeds are more common in petting zoos around the world than these ones are.
i wish they'd add breeds from around the world, instead of only uk breeds.

Frontier just addressed 'is this the last pack?' head on and confirmed in their livestream that the team are "working on another animal pack" to release later this year, so we're back to status being 'at least one more to come'. :)

While I agree, I have a feeling that the breeds chosen were, with the exception of the Highland Cattle maybe, just chosen for actually being quite generic versions of the animals in question. Yes, it's an Alpine, a Tamworth, a Hill Radnor, but actually what that means in practice is a very generic looking goat, pig, and sheep (and chicken and donkey) - one that is a specific breed, but also stands for many. Which ought to make them more flexible than a Cameroon Sheep or Kune Kune, much as I'd have loved to see those.

i think generic animals are neat, but i honestly would prefer more well-known domestic breeds.

To be honest, if I was Frontier (or more precisely the decision maker), I would milk this as long as it's possible. I mean, how expensive is it to make such a DLC? I think way less than a completely new game...
This game still would have (better, it has) tons of potential (which I doubt it is impossible to exploit) so why not continuing this way with maybe 3-4 DLCs for another 4-5 years (it is without a doubt one of the most successful games Frontier made).
I mean, other developers can do it as well. SCS for example is still updating their ETS2...which is nearly 12 years old. And they still make and successfully sell DLCs. Why shouldn't this work here too.
The engine of Planet Zoo is backward that causing stuck when you have more than 20 habitats, the pathing system is also notoriously ****** that often demotivates new players. There is no innovative attraction after Twilight pack, the Frontier definitively knows the players' desire for flying birds and aquarium, but the innate defects of the system may not run the aviary and aquarium well. If we want to bring out more potentials from this game, a new developed system is required, which probably needs a new game, PZ2. I would say I am OK that the Frontier ends the support this year, as long as they put the effort on the PZ2 with the advanced system.
hey guys, breaking news!! another animal pack was officially confirmed in their livestream, so this means that the barnyard animal pack is not the last pack. So, what can we expect this time, like a Latin America Animal Pack? or an Aviary Expansion Pack?
I don't think the Frontier will offer innovative things like Aviary at the end of support, probably just animal pack. I guess it might be a Safari pack that contains species from Africa, South America and South Asia. The Frontier is facing financial hardship now and has laid off some staff since last year, they probably don't have enough resources to work on new models, most species offered by the last packs are more likely easy clones (like antelopes, Nile Crocodiles, Sulcata Tortoise and some felines)

i'd say we shouldn't lose hope, we know most of the players want aviaries and aquariums, but we must be positive and have faith. who knows we can actually do it.

A bit late to the game, pun intended, and I’ve been loving it on the PS5 for the most part! The only frustration I’ve had is franchise mode, I can’t for the life of me do any of the community challenges due to the market or mode just crashing. Nonetheless, I’ve been trying to make some exhibits from my home zoos in sandbox mode :)

Right now my biggest endeavor is trying to make my version of what I think Elephant Valley at the SDZ Safari Park will look like when complete. I am trying to be more creative but I feel clumsy at times and forget that props or foliage can really make the zoos really pop.

Currently in the in-between period where I'm thinking about reinstalling PZ and really properly building a big franchise zoo this time... for real!... but this happens every few months and it's never fruitful lol.

I enjoy that there's a barnyard pack now, though I do wish there was a greater variety in breeds given that the programming should be relatively the same. Gimme my holsteins dangit!!

Planet Zoo has gotten a lot more DLC packs than I expected it to. Planet Coaster was a popular game as well, and it only had 11 DLC packs. PZ is at 16, 17 if you count the Deluxe upgrade for the game. They must be making decent money from it, and I think they understand that they're in a really advantageous position with this game. Zoo simulators are a niche product without much representation on the market, but they have a dedicated fanbase. Planet Zoo has the attention of that entire fanbase, and it's unlikely that it's going to have real competition any time soon.

Obviously, we won't get new updates indefinitely, and I do think we're close to the end. (but I have said that before and was very wrong, lol) But I do think we might get at least a few more packs. And I also won't be surprised if they just continue to milk it, like you suggest, ha ha.

They advertised the Barnyard pack as having some popularly requested animals, so I'm thinking the next pack will also make it a point to include some popular wishlist animals. Latin America would be a good choice. South America is still underrepresented in the game, and some popular wishlist animals could be included. Another Africa pack could also bring in some popular requests, I know the secretary bird is a big one. I'm not holding my breath for a full aviary expansion, though that would be nice to get. Perhaps that will depend on how long they plan to continue updating the game? Aviaries would be a major feature to add, would be a lot of work. I don't know if they'd add it in unless they plan on supporting the game for a good long while, and make good use of that feature. But then again, it would allow them to go out with a bang.

Agreed. Personally, I would have liked a pig species with more color morph options. Color variation is an interesting part of domestication and having that representation would have been nice. I also wish the pack included a pony, perhaps in place of the alpaca or donkey. Given that they did make this pack with all domesticated animals, when we previously only had a single domesticated species, I wonder if there's a chance that future packs will be more inclined to include a domestic species.

i wouldn't mind if we wait for a long time to get aviaries officially, but in the end the waiting would be totally worthy.

I have no inside info but I'm as certain as I can be that flying birds are being held over to provide an instant selling point should they decide to make a PZ2.

Is there an issue with animals that can climb but climbable structures are placed out of reach? I was working on my recreation of Philly Zoo and am building the Rare Animal Conservation Center. I placed a couple climbable trees on top of the floor and the mangabey hasn't tried to climb on them yet. Do climbable structures have to be anchored to the ground? I checked the habitat reachable area and the trees are in green showcasing they're climbable. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it! Also, check out this thread of my progress!

Is the mangabey from a mod? I'd think that has more to do with any issues than anything else. That said it might not hurt to anchor them slightly into the ground- in any case I don't think it'd do any harm.

I had a quick look at some of the Twilight and Aquatic game pieces as those 2 packs came out on consoles today. Also for console players are the souvenir shops with all the pieces.

Still not on consoles yet are on screen animal cameras for the burrows and I hope they will be added very soon.

Hopefully either the tropical or conservation pack as I would like a gibbon species, or the African pack for the meerkats and white rhinoceros.

I have a feeling that they are adding all the DLCs first that have building/scenery pieces and foliage first. I think all DLCs released so far on consoles have featured building stuff.
