The Zoo at Aschersleben is one of the few zoos without Meerkats but this will change soon. A new enclosure is planned and will be opened to the public in July. Planned is to place a group of 8 to 10 animals in it.
Has anyone visited this park recently? Is it worth a visit?
I'm considering eastern Germany for my 2025 zootrip (Cottbus, Chemnitz, Dresden, maybe Erfurt, with possible revisits to Leipzig and/or Magdeburg) and I noticed Zoo Aschersleben is also in that area. I'm not seeing a whole lot of photo's on the gallery, and from the lack of news on zoochat, I'm assuming it's not a much visited zoo by zoochatters.
If you are in the area combined day trip to Bernburg and Halle is the far better choice. Aschersleben isn't one of the highlights in the area. Apart from Bernburg and Halle, Dessau also has an interesting zoo.
For your 2025 zoo trip Görlitz + Cottbus is a very good day out too.
Thanks! Cottbus + Görlitz seems like a good combo!
Not sure I'll do Halle as I've been there in 2022 and I saw pretty much everything there (except the aardwolf which is now dead) so going back there is not a priority.
Thanks for suggesting Dessau, it's another one I can consider.
There's also Hoyerswerda. Have you been there?
