On January 11th, the zoo announced it has received a $10,000 conservation grant from the AZA.

On March 12th, the zoo announced it has opened the Lower Asian Tier area to the public. The exhibits in this area include the white-handed gibbons, Asian small-clawed otters, red pandas, giant anteaters, maned wolves, tufted deer, and red-crowned cranes.

Today on Twitter, the zoo announced they have gotten 3 Western Gray Kangaroos and are now in the Australian area.

Also, to me the bigger note is that their Australian area is not a walkabout anymore, but converted entrances into viewing areas. I'm curious if this ever opened back up to a walkabout as it was also closed when I visited in April a year ago.

On February 20th, it was reported that the zoo transferred (1.1) bobcats named Millie and Mittens to the Alexandria Zoo in Louisiana.

On March 11th, the zoo announced that they acquired (1.1) ring-tailed lemurs named Oscar and Nora which are now on exhibit in the Habitats Building in the Americas loop area.

On November 11th, it was announced that the zoo acquired a (1.0) white-handed gibbon named Gibson from the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo in Florida.

On November 29th, it was reported that the zoo is drafting new designs towards a new masterplan which includes an African hoofstock area where the kangaroos and wallabies are (later down the line it will be home to giraffes) and new exhibits for bobcats and lemurs. Once the designs come back, they will take 3-5 years to complete construction.

Geez... so much has changed since I went there. I remember going to the zoo's master plan meeting in early 2018 and filmed it for my channel. They even now have a tall fence in front of the Chacoan Peccary exhibit!
