Conundrum of mine

I am currently working on a series of 26 artistic tiles; one with birds for each letter of the alphabet. [Depicted here: 'B'] And one artistic motif I found myself in... extant bird species can [though not necessarily always] be depicted alive. Extinct species, however, are to be depicted 'inderectly', say a painting or rock carving. If it's extinct then it can't get the 'breath of life'.
And so I look over the list of species to be included... amongst them are Himalayan Quail + Ivory-billed Woodpecker... neither of whom have been seen alive in years...... but their habitat is such that no one is willing to say for certain they are extinct.
So I was uncertain whether they would be able to have the 'breath of life' then.....
I was hoping one of you may have a clever verdict?

Maybe a way to depict them is as a shadow if possible- it can be interpreted as the live bird being only a fraction of its former population or the shadow being of skeletons or some sculptures?

I'd be inclined to say there's hope for the quail, but not the woodpecker.
Compromise of mine.
I think the Himalayan Quail will be depicted as alive as it still has a decent chance of being alive. That and it's not as notorious case as the Ivorybill so I feel safer depicting it like that.
Ivorybill I think will be in form of 'picture in a picture'. So not entirely alive, not entirely dormant

Another conundrum....
I was thinking at 'Q' to include either Resplendent Quetzal or Crested Quetzal.
But was unsure which one
