The chevrotain would also not be eligible for this challenge, as they are not true deer (Tragulidae instead of Cervidae).
The Arabian oryx and lowland nyala also do not qualify for this challenge. The only antelope that qualify are members of the Antilopinae (gazelles and dwarf antelopes), Aepycerotinae (impala), and Oreotraginae (klipspringer) subfamilies.
Yesterday, I finally got my last two Buffalo Zoo species.
57. Black-and-Gold Howler Monkey- Alouatta caraya
58. Puerto Rican Crested Toad- Peltophryne lemur
For the purposes of the challenge, @ZooBinh has used the taxonomic model that retains Hippotraginae, Alcelaphinae, Caprinae, etc. as distinct subfamilies instead of placing all members of Aegodontia under Antilopinae with the aforementioned subfamilies being classified as tribes instead. Under latter model, oryx would count, but that is not the model laid out in the beginning of the thread.
Now that I know that I can share this (it does not appear the Park intends to officially announce them)... There was another even more exciting recent addition on display during my most recent visit to the Safari Park!
San Diego Zoo Safari Park (Escondido, CA) - 29 April 2024: Caprinae:
181. Nilgiri tahr (Nilgiritragus hylocrius)
Missed two for Manor Wildlife Park on my prior list so will add it on now as still feels timely enough;
54) Przewalski's Horse, Equus ferus przewalskii
55) Parma Wallaby, Macropus parma
I have just completed a visit to the Lehigh Valley Zoo, which netted me 3 new eligible species. There was one additional eligible species that was signed, but was off exhibit; the White's Tree Frog. Oh well.
New species and facilities since my last update are in bold. Each species is only counted once.
