Despite patchy weather, it was a nice day and most animals were out. It was nice to see the bears playing together as I had not visited since the last ‘incident’.

An amazing day at an amazing site. Many new animals had arrived since my last visit including the construction of SLoRA which I found immersive and also throughly enjoyable. This was the first time I had seen the Indian Mongoose as they enjoy vanishing when I arrive. I was supposed at the liveliness of the nocturnal area and I managed to spot most of its inhabitants.

35. Potto (Perodicticus potto)
36. Moholi bushbaby (Galago moholi)
37. Senegal bushbaby (Galago senegalensis)

Despite hailing once or twice, I managed to spot a nice range of animals, including some new, such as the Sable Antelope (presumably both brothers?) and the banded mongoose (although I do miss the honey badger). The Bat-eared fox pair were a delight to see, despite being in their holding area rather than the actual enclosure.

50. Sable Antelope (Hippotragus niger)
51. Serval (Leptailurus serval)
52. Caracal (Caracal caracal)
53. De Brazza's monkey (Cercopithecus neglectus)
54. Banded Mongoose (Mungos mungo)
55. Pallas's Cat (Otocolobus manul)
56. Bat-eared Fox (Otocyon megalotis)

Not the most successful visit with regards to this challenge, as there were many no-shows and other areas that I simply did not visit. Some of these were (meerkats, coatis, wallabies, tenrecs) were accounted for at Tropiquaria. Others (Moholi Bushbaby, Small Indian Mongoose) are more challenging, but hopefully a planned return to London in the coming weeks can prove useful there.

Tropiquaria Zoo 07/04/24:
14. African Dwarf Dormouse Graphiurus murinus
15. Bennett's Wallaby Notamacropus rufogriseus
15. Cape Genet Genetta tigrina

24. Serval Leptailurus serval
25. Ring-tailed Coati Nasua nasua
26. Sugar Glider Petaurus breviceps
27. Yellow Mongoose Cynictis penicillata

By contrast, a very successful visit with every onshow species eligible for this challenge seen (assuming that the Asian Palm Civets, that I could not find and were unlabelled on the map, but are listed on ZTL, are either offshow or have departed the collection). Particularly happy with the Northern Flying Squirrels which I may never have the chance to see again.
Sea Life Weymouth 29/05/24
28. Harbour Seal Phoca vitulina

A surprisingly enjoyable first-time visit to this collection, although it was hardly the most useful so far as either challenge goes, as is to of course be expected from an aquarium.

Closing in on the lead, but very much reaching the ‘slow grind because all the common species have been ticked off’ stage.
