Singapore Night Safari Singapore Night Safari News

There are current plans to perhaps bring Sang Wira over to the zoo so theres a chance only Chawang will stay

Probably will take a while for that plan to happen, if at all. The new Elephant habitat at the Zoo is on hold for now as they focus on the new Coastal habitat for the Sealions and a new F&B complex.

The pangolin trail doesn't feel that necessary if its all just animals they already have elsewhere in the park. Kinda underwhelming for a 30th anniversary exhibit

Are they gonna build the coastal exhibit over Frozen Tundra or the current sea lion exhibit?

I believe the intent is to have a weather-proof trail since it will be largely sheltered, and also to showcase the Pangolins properly.

I understand the new coastal habitat will be built over the current Sealion exhibit.

Do you guys think the Pangolin trail will be opened anytime soon? It wasn’t featured in any of the 30th anniversary promotional materials and the event runs until early September.

I have heard that the EARLIEST time should be around July, but I've also heard it might be somewhere around the end of the year. So I'd say let's mark it around those times

Went to Night Safari yesterday and heard that the Keepers will be releasing the animals into their new exhibit at the pangolin trail next week, can't wait for it to open!

NEXT WEEK??? That soon?? I'm surprised the animals will be prepared that quickly. I'll definitely miss the Pangolin by the Leopard Trail, but I'll certainly be looking forward to this

Thanks for the update.

And welcome to ZooChat, we hope you enjoy your stay

The keeper mention a tentative opening date for the pangolin trail,by the end of July/early August 2024.The post I posted early is that the animals will moved in to their new exhibit next week to adapt to their new surroundings,I hope it didn't cause any misunderstanding that the pangolin trail is opening next week :)

Nah no worries I get what you were saying, even then I'm surprised they were already moving on to see their new environments

Looking forward to all this

Well a bit of a bummer for me personally, the Sunda Pangolin has apparently moved out from its interspecies exhibit with the Small-Toothed Palm Civet in the Leopard Trail and will be off display until the opening of the Pangolin Trail.

I'm definitely going to miss having Berani there in that exhibit, it probably is one of the best exhibits for em. Hopefully their new home in Pangolin Trail will be just as good

How many pangolins does the park currently have? It’s a pity that the multi-species exhibit now only hosts the small-toothed palm civets.

Will the former marsh bird aviary be part of the new trail as well? From the looks of it, that particular area doesn't seem like it's ready anytime soon.

I only know of 3 individuals. Radin, Nita and Berani but there should be more

Definitely agreed on the multi species exhibit, it genuinely was a really good exhibit and it's fun to have all these inhabitants. I won't be able to see the Civets swat the face of Berani one more time sadly

Regarding the Marsh Bird area, there's a signboard that is labelled as "Pangolin Hut." These are the images I managed to get when the boards covering the once viewing windows were curtains somewhere in April. Probably still got quite a journey to go but a decent chunk more building has been done since

There are 2.3 Pangolins currently.

I've been trying to figure out what the former Marsh Bird exhibit will house. From the barrier height and retention of the pool, it may be for Asian Small Clawed Otters..

That's a lot more than I thought but that's a W for me then

It could also potentially be the Capybaras? I remember hearing that they did want to have the Coconut Dogs returning to the park at some point

Or ya know just a massive Pangolin exhibit lmao but I doubt it

Noticed that the pelican on the map is over where the otters were, have they introduced pelicans again?

I just realised that the new map has some details of the new trail, perhaps there will be a new ranger station as indicated in the map? It is really underwhelming that the new trail may host more exhibits for (existing) civets.

That's a lot more than what I expected - hopefully their new exhibit can display them well. And based on the new map - there might be 2 pangolin exhibits in the new trail? I'm not sure how much we can glean info from the new map.

How many slow lorises and maned wolves left in the park? 1-2 years ago I always saw a pair in their respective exhibits but it seems now it is only single individuals.
