How Sivatherium has said, you have chosen the worst day to visit the park. The price increase depending on the demand the aquarium expect for that day, normally is higher on holidays. I think in a normal day the ticket could cost like 26€ or something like that. Hope you enjoy the rest of the city. I also recommend Bioparc (the other zoo of the city) before Oceanografic because of the price and because it has normally less people but in this week is going to be crowded also
 
Visiting a Spanish zoo or aquarium on a holiday is a big mistake, because it's the time when "normal" people take the opportunity to go with their children. On normal days there are fewer people and those people are less unruly, more tourists...

On the other hand, in general the prices of Spanish zoos and aquariums are very expensive and the relationship with the quality of the parks is terrible. In Europe you can visit better zoos and aquariums at comparatively lower prices.
 
New individuals:
- The Oceanografic has welcomed two Belugas (Delphinapterus leucas), a male called Plombir and a female named Miranda. They were both rescued from the NEMO Dolphinarium in Járkov, Ukraine, in an elaborate plan where alongside SeaWorld and the Georgia Aquarium the animals were transported to the Spanish marine park from the dangerous war zone in Ukraine.

I don't know if any other zoological institution in EU has adequate facilities for keeping beluga whales though... But if they're eventually taken someplace else, it'll be interesting to see them in more than one EAZA institution.
 
Great news to see new belugas in Valencia, but I have to agree with lemuria here, the exhibit is too small for all of the belugas. Unless an expansion was to be planned, I'd expect the belugas to maybe head to North America instead perhaps, as the only other institution to have semi-recently kept belugas in Europe from my knowledge was Duisburg, which itself kept them in an admittedly small tank as well.

Regardless, great news for the rescued Belugas and glad to see them out of danger.
 
I don't think the Valencia facility is too small for 4 belugas. For example, compared to the one at Seaworld in San Diego, they are quite similar (although the shape of the tanks is different). In addition, belugas are gregarious animals and I think the addition of these 2 specimens will be positive. They are not animals meant to live in pairs, but in groups.

I don't know where they came from but the Oceanografic re-obtained the species back in 2023.
It's a shame it doesn't pay much attention to the puffins and marine ducks in the video, since king eiders, spectacled eiders, long-tailed ducks, Harlequin ducks, a species of scoter have been apparently added to it, and the rest of the species already exhibited before were super interesting.

I'd have assumed either Faunia or Loro Parque gave some of theirs back to valencia. Also agree that it's disappointing that less focus is given to the other waterfowl, I was surprised to see the brief shot of the king wider and didn't recall seeing them on my last visit a while back.

As for the new penguins they weren't on the website when I looked, hence my surprise when they were mentioned, but glad to hear they're actually there. It might be a sign I need to revisit the aquarium with all the new stuff :D
 
New individuals:
- The Oceanografic has welcomed five Bowmouth guitarfish (Rhina ancylostoma) from Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. Two individuals will be kept at the Oceanograifc to form a breeding group with the two males the aquarium already houses and the other three will leave for Oceanário de Lisboa, Nausicaá and Burgers' Zoo. Only three institutions in the world have managed to breed this critically endangered species, so the Oceanograifc hopes to be the fourth.
