But the red panda exhibit had new paint.
It’s all old footage. I just saw the video mentioned. There’s no way they’d have access to that area as it’s closed off for the pandas and probably having finishing touches done. And the takins were in the same exhibit as they used to be.

Panda Pair to Make Official Public Debut at the San Diego Zoo on August 8
Unsure if this is the former panda area or the expanded on area, I’ve seen footage from the Bashor Bridge of what looked like the new rock work along the holding area. I will make a visit as soon as possible to photograph it all when it’s openWere these shots and video taken in the original exhibit or the new extension? That rock work doesn’t look familiar with the previous panda enclosures.
These shots were taken in the original exhibit that's been rethemed and expanded. I'm curious about the red rocks more than anything, but so far the exhibit looks nice! where in the zoo is the Banded Palm Civet located? That would definitely be a priority species for me to see during my visit!Just a note to say that, per zootierliste, San Diego received 1.0 Banded palm civet (Hemigalus derbyanus) from Nashville and he is now on show. A lovely addition and one of my favourite species.
Oh that's awesome!! I love these guys - any idea where he'll be held?Just a note to say that, per zootierliste, San Diego received 1.0 Banded palm civet (Hemigalus derbyanus) from Nashville and he is now on show. A lovely addition and one of my favourite species.
He has been at the zoo as an animal ambassador since at least late 2022, although this would be the first I've heard of him going on exhibit! That would be great news and I'm eager to learn where in the zoo he could be found!Just a note to say that, per zootierliste, San Diego received 1.0 Banded palm civet (Hemigalus derbyanus) from Nashville and he is now on show. Looks like it was listed as being seen during May this year, has anybody seen it since then? A few zoochatters have been to the zoo during that time frame and after and I don't think anybody has mentioned him. Maybe it is/was kept in the ambassador animal exhibits in the basecamp?Just a note to say that, per zootierliste, San Diego received 1.0 Banded palm civet (Hemigalus derbyanus) from Nashville and he is now on show. I did not see it on my visit this July but I did not explore every nook and cranny (but I saw the vast majority of exhibits). If I knew about it I probably would’ve asked about itLooks like it was listed as being seen during May this year, has anybody seen it since then? Will the takins be in the new panda experience
Have just received confirmation via email that the Takins won't return on display there, it will just be the Giant Pandas and Red Pandas.Sadly, it doesn’t seem likely. For the soon to be former takin yard is being converted into a second panda exhibit.
disappointing, but expected, hopefully the zoo can find somewhere else to display them. Does the safari park keep takins?Have just received confirmation via email that the Takins won't return on display there, it will just be the Giant Pandas and Red Pandas.
I am not sure about the safari park but the zoo should have both mishmi and golden takin off-display in some hoofstock yards which are visible from a great distance at the skyfari terminal near the anteater.disappointing, but expected, hopefully the zoo can find somewhere else to display them. Does the safari park keep takins?
