Taking the lead - you can probably infer which country I’m posting this from, so I reckon I’ll extend that lead by quite a bit in the short term. Of course, I will grind to a very final stop in mid-September and be a sitting duck thereafter, so I’m doubtful I’ll be able to hold this lead for the rest of the year.

I certainly don't plan any major projects in the coming months, so it will likely have to be someone else!

They are in the Madagascar house, yes. I only saw one briefly, it was one of the nocturnal exhibits. The one that also lists lesser hedgehog tenrec (frustratingly unseen despite many attempts over two days, and I’m not entirely convinced it’s still in there).

29. Spotted Hyena (Crocuta crocuta)
30. White-lipped Tamarin (Saguinus labiatus)

More progress at Colchester as the warm weather allowed me to see the Common Warthogs at Edge of Africa as well as getting lucky with a second try at the Spotted Hyena, visiting within the first few days a new species was on show helped too. I am now left with only two elusive species fully on show left to see, Blue Duiker and Rock Hyrax.
My first visit to Howletts was fairly successful covering quite a few rarer species that I am unlikely to get many further chances to see this year and only missing out on two species of antelope and bat eared foxes.
