Any news from you UK guys about a replacement for Bobby?, with the number of spare males around in the UK they should not have to much of a problem finding another male, should they?

No news as yet though I am sure there is something in the pipeline. I'm sure they will want a new male to exhibit as soon as possible with the summer coming on, not to mention the females being lonely.

Seems unaceptable really. Why would this be taking so long!

He only died in December, it is not that long(yet) of course there's a possibility one or more of the females could be pregnant from bobby and so they are putting off getting a new male- that would be excellent news but i fear its unlikely.

Most of the available males in the Uk are at Port Lympne. PL and ZSL don't usually deal with each other much. My guess is they will more likely have gone through the EEP and a new one may come from Europe. Actually, looking at the studbook there are not that many suitable age(10+ males) around that are also genetically valuable too- though there are plenty of younger ones. I've identified a few 'possibles' but there is no obvious contender.... its about time to think about bringing in one or two from America into the European population perhaps.

I emailed Twycross last week an they told me that they are waiting to hear from the EEP, so they are doing something about there situation!

Can you elaborate, or was that basically it? I knew they must be doing something finally as since October they have had no adult male at all.
