This confused me when I read “agnostic” instead of “agnostid”!

Actually, the terms are related. “Agnostic” means “not knowing”; “agnostids” (a group of Early Paleozoic fossil arthropods) were named (or so Prof. Thomas Holtz tells me) for their lack of vision.
