Let's hope they have breeding successes with Chinese alligators soon, although the former alligator snapping turtle/pig-nosed turtle tank might be too small for that

Panjang is definitely moving there. The herp team has been prepping for his move for a very long time, the last shift from Sg. Buaya to Bornean Marsh was to familiarise him with the transport crate (an insanely bulky thing btw) and the whole moving process. Right now they are shifting them around a lot so that the entire team, which is pretty much all new staff, are able to execute the eventual big move perfectly and smoothly.

I remember the initial plan for Rainforest Park to have 5 species of crocodile, not sure if they are still intending to do so...

Thanks for sharing this, i hope Panjang's move goes smoothly. When you say 5 species at Rainforesr Wild, do you mean across the Asia and Africa halves? I believe there will be a large crocodile habitat in the Africa half too.

Yes. And the fifth species, while African, will not be Stitch (the Osteolaemus), if all goes to the old plan he should be put back on display, but at the Zoo. And once again, IF the plans are the same, it would be another, more interesting (to me at least), African species joining the roster.

Would be great to have Stitch back on display. Do you know why he was removed from RW?

Guessing that the interesting African crocodile species is the slender-snouted crocodile. I doubt they'd get Nile or desert crocodiles

The relocaiton of the Chinese Alligators and Siamese Crocodile to the Pygmy Hippo exhibit seems permanent or at least semi-permanent. A bit of work was done to improve the fencing of the exhibits.

A transport crate has been placed in Panjang the Estuarine Crocodile's habitat. He should be moving soon. But to where?

With Panjang's exhibit vacated, that exhibit and the adjacent one that used to house Chinese Alligators could be upgraded together, although i have not come across any such plans.

With the upgrading of the Reptopia behind the scenes area, some of the off show gecko tanks have been temporarily moved closer to the viewing windows. 2 new species were labelled: Goniurosaurus huuliensis and Goniurosaurus luii. The geckos themselves can't be seen and i suppose they might eventually head to Rainforest Wild Asia.

Also, the Large-eyed Pit Viper is now on display at the former Red-tailed Racer tank at Reptopia.

Are there still lories and great arguses at Fragile Forest? Noticed they removed the great argus sign in my last visit when they changed the signs. Many birds that are currently there still remain unsigned

Which lories are you referring to? I couldn’t recall seeing any lories during my visits this year. If I’m not mistaken, I spotted a great argus around mid-July.

The leopard exhbit will be closed for a while due to a Kapok tree falling onto the exhbit and viewing gallery
 
Mandai has lost another bovid species. Henk the Anoa is gone. Can anyone confirm if he died or was exported?

I recall very early plans included Anoa in Rainforest Wild Asia. But seeing how the hoofstock exhibits for the park are designed to be flexible/multi-species, it was probably dropped from the plan since it can't be mixed with any other species. The trial at the Zoo to mix Henk with Babirusa did not go well (at one point the keepers resorted to wrapping his horns with sponge to prevent the Babirusa from being impaled!).

do you know what will happen to Henk's old exhibit? i hope there's a chance that they'll put a malayan tapir in it again

Babirusa will occupy the exhibit, together with their existing exhibit.

Malayan Tapir will be housed at Night Safari and Rainforest Wild Asia.
 
Sad to see Henk go. If I'm not wrong, there's a 1.1 pair of babirusa in the existing exhibit and I think 2 more females which they tried to mix with Henk who would probably be the permanent inhabitants of that exhibit
