Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park News 2024

Did you get a photo of this aviary? And where do you have to go to be able to find it?

I don't have a full photograph of the aviary, but here are two of the three macaws visible in part of the aviary (there were more perching and climbing places elsewhere in the aviary). The white building in the background is the back end of the Reptile House. Off-camera to the right is a new food outlet. If you walk around the right side of the building, you can get a clearer view of the aviary, although there is a considerable stand-off barrier that prevents you from getting too close to it at the moment.

Oh nice thank you. Looks big although slightly empty from the photo provided. Hopefully they'll add more to it in the future

Here is a close-up image, showing some more of the furniture inside the aviary. They probably could do with some extra perching space, but I would definitely say I already quite liked the aviary.

  • New species: There is a brand-new aviary for a trio of blue-and-yellow macaws behind the Reptile House
Bit late to the party but fantastic to hear Macaws have finally gone on display. You could hear them very loudly from inside the Reptile House previously. Of course this could be different Macaws to those inside but either way, great addition to the Park!

Had a good visit to Jimmy's farm today. It was pretty quiet at opening time as it was a bit colder but it warmed up considerably and the crowds came out, though they were concentrated around the playgrounds and bouncy trampoline thing.

Was good to see all four Polar bears together, moving freely between both large enclosures and playing in the pools / running about. Lively and fun to watch. The wolves were in the back enclosure as in my last visit so no good views of them.

It was nice to see the Reindeer in the woods on the way to the Arctic fox enclosure and all the fencing around the wood is now complete, with signs the Polar bears can use it though there was no access for them on the day of my visit.

The new European brown bear enclosure is well furnished and constructed, running along the bottom of a small valley which rises to the house end. Not the easiest of enclosures to capture a picture of, but I grabbed a pano of the wood end looking back to the house

There is a second larger pool in the enclosure outside the house area.

which is overlooked by a well positioned viewing platform. A good number of frames and places for the bear to climb, be concealed and make the most of shade. Seemed a good space and offered interesting views, though very top down. Good clear signage too.

Quite a few people failed to go up the path to the house end and so missed the bear but I guess people will find the way over time. The bear Diego was indeed out and about though and offered good views in the area outside the house - he seemed very relaxed close to the public.

The Capybara had produced more youngsters and there were 16 of them in the enclosure, the largest group I have seen. Elsewhere there were numerous Bagot goat kids and lambs for the Somali sheep as well as the young dwarf Zebu to admire and a few young ring tailed lemurs who were bounding about in the locked walkthrough.

Was nice to see the Suffolk Punch horses and on 31st August / 1st September there is a Suffolk punch show at the farm, with a young stock show, which I thought I'd mention for any Punch fans.
