Frequent visits to Toad Hall eventually paid off. I only missed seeing Common Toad and the Poison Dart frogs and I didn't look for those having already put them on my list.

I am revising my list. I did not seeThree-striped Poison Frog. I made the entry in the middle of the night and did not check my photo of the label. The label is 'Phantasmal Poison Frog' which I expect is wrong. So my score has gone down to 49.

Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying the festive period. Just a reminder that there are less than 48 hours remaining of 2024!!! So get any last minute additions in soon. I hope you have all enjoyed this year’s challenge. I will post the results on new years day, which will shortly be followed by some statistics from the challenge, for anyone who enjoys that sort of thing as much as myself!

I shall post next year’s challenge tomorrow (assuming people would like another), but unsure on whether to the keep the name as it was this year or revert to Shorts’ original “UK” title for simplicity sake. If anyone has any input on that it’d be great to hear your thoughts.

Otherwise, enjoy what is left of 2024 and we shall reconvene in the new year!

Most definitely my last post of the year,

2024 has drawn to a close and so it is time for the result of the ZooChat Challenge Great Britain, Ireland, and Crown Dependencies 2024.

The contest was hotly contested with some very close finishing tallies, however, this year’s winner topped the leaderboard pretty much the whole way through the year, finishing with an impressive tally of 66 amphibian species seen, so congratulations to……. bongorob!!!

Behind the spoiler is the final leaderboard and below that some statistics.

66 = bongorob
55 = Dr. Loxodonta
36 = pipaluk
26 = amur leopard
21 = skukuza

Rather than in a separate post, here as promised is a little insight into some statistics from this year’s challenge.

I do hope you all enjoyed the 2024 challenge reboot, and look forward to seeing you all for the 2025 snake challenge!

Thank you Dr. Loxodonta. Sorry for the lateness in replying. I had no internet access from 28th December until today. I enjoyed the challenge, and I would have seen one more species if I wen't so short. I could not see the Cane (Marine) Toad at Rodbaston as I couldn't see into the viv. I did get a very bad picture of it though, by holding my camera above my head, pressing the trigger and hoping.
