A group of red-legged honeycreepers is on show in the bird house, mixed with trogons. New species for the zoo.

A group of 8 Chilean flamingos arrived from Zamosc Zoo and with them their group now consists of 19 individuals.

Does it mean that Zamosc went out of flamingo keeping just 2 years after obtaining this species? I´m glad that this species sees some consolidation into larger groups in zoos, but this seems a little strange.

I've seen 4 birds on 18/9, but these were signed as 'greater flamingo'. Given the color of the legs I would think these are (young?) Chilean flamingo.

Thank you for those pics and info! The birds on your pic are immature Greater flamingos (and they look pure, not hybrids). That would mean not only the sign is correct. But that the zoo started with another flamingo species (roseus is not listed in ZTL so far). I hope Zamosc gets additional pieces to grow their flock, but that should not be difficult, Greaters breed very well in zoos of our region so they are easy to be sourced in good numbers.
