Bird Paradise Bird Paradise news 2024

Quite a few of their mixes haven't worked out well, even resulting in animal death, for instance the wattled crane Gru attacked and killed Zola the shoebill[
so u saying there s only 1 shoebill left

Good news: The closed off area of the Winged Sanctuary is finally open...

Bad News: Except for the area by the Philippine Eagle, which blocks off half of the Toco Toucan's enclosure, currently there's some renovation going on inside Sambisig's habitat

And a little extra to add, the Silvery Cheeked Hornbill and Southern Rufous Hornbill have swapped aviaries

A few little things
1. Brahminy kites do not appear in the Predators on Wings show, although they do show a video of retired kites in their backstage retirement aviary. Wish they had the space to make another raptor retirement aviary like Jurong had

2. These birds were in a cage at Songs of the Forest, not sure what they are (ignore that partridge outside the cage)

3. Are they ever gonna put their green peafowl on display?

2. The second pic's one is another collared partridge

3. Peafowl will most likely not be put back on display due to pecking of guests.

Were they removed from the show? I swore I just a few weeks ago they were around when I actually watched the show

Perhaps they could free up a space in Winged Sanctuary for the peafowl, would have chosen the former lesser BoP aviary as it is large and the common green magpies are hard to see or the aviary with the red-tailed black cockatoos

I went this Tuesday and no kites showed up. 4 kites were in the Jurong show; only Rado appeared in the new show afaik but none appeared at all even though they have quite a lot of kites

. Metallic starling (Aplonis metallica)

I can only help ya with these 2.

There's only 1 Ashy Starling in Heart of Africa, its main spot that's easiest found is by the 2nd Floor feeders, the one beside the pond. Best seen around the Afternoon but no promises

There should be several Metallic Starlings in Mysterious Papua, I believe a group of 20 of them are in the aviary. Unsure of where to find them normally except by the feeders

I'll leave the rest to the more experience ZooChatters, all the best to your birds

Thank you guys for your answer !

I asked the keepers to see the Long-tailed broadbill and they said he died recently, so this species is no longer part of the collection...
