North American Masai Giraffe Population

Does anyone have a photo or know the parents of Kiva Giraffee born at LA zoo on Nov 10. 1995. He transferred to Houston and had ten calves. He died in 2012. I know the name of his babies but am looking for the other two? Tessa, Hasani, Neema, Jack, Miles, Asali, Amali, and a male born 03/15/06.

Amani the female Masai giraffe at the Toronto Zoo has left for another facility after receiving a recommendation. Kiko and Mstari(Amani's parents) will also be reintroduced and to be bred again.

* For some reason this giraffe was never listed on @IndianRhino's list. Was it a hybrid or did it just slip through the cracks?
Just slipped through the cracks! I realized I had missed her in my list sometime last year and hadn’t posted an updated list since. Sad news regardless!

Anyways, stay tuned I will be posting an updated list sometime soon!

Does anyone know the whereabouts and departure dates of Fred (born 2013 at Disney, moved to San Diego Zoo in 2015) and two of his offspring, Nathaniel (mother Harriet) and Carol (mother Domibella), both of which were born in 2019 at SDZ?

Hello everyone :) It is my belief that after the AZA recommendation for breeding and from close observation of the live cams that Autumn is pregnant again and has been since March 2024 (last witnessed mating connection). This would make her due if she stays true to form in mid June 2025. Has anyone heard any information regarding this and also if they plan to move Blossom to another Zoo? If the Zoo follows plan they will move Blossom before Autumn gives birth probably.

What zoo is this?

The baby has been named Sumi.
SacramentoZoo on Instagram: "We are excited to announce that our adorable baby Masai giraffe, born on March 1, has been given the name Sumi! The name Sumi was inspired by sumac browse, a favorite snack of Sumi’s mother, Amirah, during her pregnancy. The name is a playful nod to the sumac tree, and also honors the important role that the local community plays in supporting the zoo’s giraffes through its browse donation program. These donations help provide fresh, nutritious browse for the giraffe herd, enriching their diet and environment. Thank you for your support! With your votes, you helped raise funds for a new shade structure for the zoo’s giraffes. Your donations are already being put to good use, with construction on the new structure beginning this week. Come visit Sumi at the giraffe habitat today! Giraffe-themed educational activities will be available all day on Friday, April 4! Now a little over a month old, Sumi is already becoming a familiar face in the giraffe yard, where she spends her days exploring alongside the rest of the herd. Still very much a baby, guests can most easily see her at zoo opening, when she enjoys exploring the outdoors before retreating to the giraffe barn for a rest."

According to Disney, they are now down to 8 giraffes in total, including the new calf. Tucker, Twiga, Mara, Kenya, Maple, Willow and Aella are all confirmed alive, however that still leaves one individual and means 5 of the giraffes have left the facility or passed away since the last population update.
I’m curious as to who else is left and what happened to the other 5 animals, though it’s likely George and his two sons moved out as was previously planned.
