Brookfield Zoo Koalas

I am thrilled that we have Koalas at BZ, but feel their exhibit space is not optimal. I have seen the two Koalas at their old home at the San Diego Zoo, where each Koala is in a circular enclosure with its tree in the center. This allows visitors to view the Koala from all sides without obstruction. Are there any plans for creating a similar space at BZ? It is difficult to view the Koalas, particularly the one in the rear enclosure.

The current koala set-up is only temporary. One of the zoo's next major projects is redevelopment of the Australia House which include entirely new koala enclosures.

It is not good practice to have enclosures where the animal can be viewed from all sides. It can feel trapped and stressed, especially when there are large, noisy crowds.
