EXotarium Kraków

A brand new small private reptile zoo opened in September 2024 in city of Krakow - not far away from the main railway station.

According to its website, it shows around 120 species of reptiles, amphibians, inverts and fish. Space is at premium thus tanks are built in several rows on each other. Tanks are you usual hobby-type in size and shape. Open every day including winter months. Adult ticket is 7 euro.

It would be nice if any Polish member would post a review or even a species list.

With this new establishment, the ZTL shows already 4 collections in Krakow. The zoo, a natural museum with live reps and fish, papugarnia with tame parrots and this exotarium.

(Side note. Number of tiny private zoos and petting farms of various types grows rapidly in Poland in recent years, many people are fullfilling their dream of opening their own zoo. And while this year I hope to wrap-up adding obscure tiny Czech collections into ZTL, getting near to break no. 200, I intend to look into similar segment of zoo scene in Poland and Slovakia in 2025).

There is close to 200 zoo-like places in tiny Czechia?

It would be good if animal owners and enthusiasts living close together started to collaborate. Like the numerous small bird parks in Germany. many are basically a several enthusiasts who built aviaries next to each other to more easily manage security, exchange aviaries etc. Otherwise, many owners will see their efforts wasted, when they individually can no longer maintain the place.
