Whats with your "NAME"

Well, 'spose I'll say mine again. Marwell of course being my local and favourite zoo, regulary visiting 1 or 2 times a month, and Dalek for the fact I'm a bit of a Doctor Who nut!

Mine is very unimaginative. I intended to think up something gorilla related but in the end I just plumped for my initial and surname (my name is Marie Hale). I wish I'd chosen something more interesting now :D

There is a region in tanzania called the mhale mountains, however chimps are the only apes that live there, not gorillas.

It took me a long time to stop thinking of you as Marwell Derek when reading your posts - I guess our brains make an assumption then it is very difficult to rewire them.

Blackduiker

Blackduiker is taken from one of many species I enjoy watching at the L.A. Zoo. I'm also African-American; get it? And one of, if not the first black member of GLAZA (Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association). 40+ years and going strong.

The first two letters of my nickname is the two first letters of my name.
The last three ones is the first three letters in my surname.

I thinked that your nickname comes from the moth Trigonophora jodea ;)

In my case, nothing could be simpler. KC7GR is my amateur (ham) radio callsign. Up until I upgraded my license to Amateur Extra, and moved from native Bay Area (California) to Washington state, I was WD6EOS.

I'm working on getting HF antennas up this year. If there are any other hamateurs among ZooChatters, perhaps we'll run into each other on the air.

Happy travels.

BearCat because my favourite animals are bears and big cats. And bearcat is another name for the weird animal binturong.:)
