My best guess would be that they’re working on the area, the Leaf cutter ants are still in there however. So sad! It was one of my favourite exhibits at the zoo! What happened to the butterflies?

When I visited back in September I was also told that giant toads would be going in there as unless a coconut crab came into a rescue it would be almost impossible to get another one.A few weeks ago I was told by one of the interpreters in the former butterfly area that they were absent because of work about to begin on the former coconut crab space. She said something about toads going in there if I heard her correctly. Has anybody else heard anything about that?
Are they the toads with the Indian Rock Python in the Reptile House or another species? When I visited back in September I was also told that giant toads would be going in there as unless a coconut crab came into a rescue it would be almost impossible to get another one.
The keeper there only said giant toads, I feel like there is a decent chance it ends up being the Asian Giant Toads currently with the Indian Rock Python but only time will tell. Are they the toads with the Indian Rock Python in the Reptile House or another species?

Interesting, I wonder how that happened. When I was there last week they were all on the island. The leaf cutter ants escaped over the river a few weeks ago!!
They made a bridge over the water, I am not sure how they got them back in. They had to modify the area they escaped!Interesting, I wonder how that happened. When I was there last week they were all on the island.
Couple updates from the zoo:
- An Asian Arowana is now on habitat with the South American Lungfish in the Cool Critters building.
- What appears to be a juvenile Green Vine Snake is now on habitat in the Reptile House replacing the Casque-Headed Iguana.
- The former Maned Wolf habitat was active with construction crews behind the scenes, still unknown what could be going there.
- The male Sloth Bear has been separated from the female and now is in the habitat next to the male Andean Bear.
- The habitat next to the Pygmy Hippopotamus (on the left) has been covered with a bamboo glass film, unknown if anything is going there in the future or if it will remain an empty space.
I’m actually at the zoo today and heard that a pair will be making their way here, which is. Why the habitat is undergoing enhancements.Hey, new member here. I bought a membership solely for the maned wolves. Will they return or is this habitat be replaced with something else? I’m pretty upset about it. :^[ last time I’ve been able to see them was April 2023. I brought my maned wolf plush and found myself disappointed.
autism be damned.
Nevermind, got a keeper to tell me what happened, sad story with a very failed mating process but hopefully they won’t be replaced.Hey, new member here. Knowing that the usual male passed away means that’s good news that I hope is truthful. Cool to know you and I are here todayI’m actually at the zoo today and heard that a pair will be making their way here, which is. Why the habitat is undergoing enhancements.
This is not exactly true. They have downsized their Sichuan herd in recent years, yes, but they still have eight Mishmi, six golden, and six Sichuan. As it has been discussed multiple times at this point, there are a number of individuals of all three subspecies that cannot ever leave the zoo. With a larger Asian renovation on the horizon, I would be very surprised if some of them do not return to being on exhibit at some point in the future. They were quite popular, and regular guests even still ask about them.A number of Takin were moved to other facilities and the future of this species being exhibited at the zoo is beginning to look unlikely.
Aare they only holder of mismi snd golden in north smerica? This is not exactly true. Aussie Ark said they will be in quarantine in Tasmania for a bit, I believe it was stated that they won't be arriving until sometime in early 2025. Of course they will likely also be quarantined here before going on display.Does anyone have any information on Tasmanian devils returning to the zoo?
