Orangutans in Europe 2024

Sibu Junior going to move to Monkey World very soon where the keepers and Oshine are already waiting for him.

Hi everyone, I am a university student in ethology, I came across this interesting conversation and was wondering if there is currently an up-to-date list of orangutans in European zoos? Or if you know of an accessible database?
Thank you very much!

Male Bornean Orangutan Sibu Junior (who was born at Dublin Zoo on 31st July this year) arrived at Monkey World recently. He will be hand reared by Monkey World staff until he is ready to move into the park's Orangutan Nursery group.

Hi, There are some orangutans out of my sight. Does anybody know where are they momently?
Dwi(Amnéwille), Dayak(Beauval), Njamuk(Berlin), The offsprings of Tuan(Hamburg) before Batu and Berani. The name of one death offspring of Bimbo(Leipzig): Pagai, ???, Rima, Martok

Dwi moved to Dyreparken (Kristiansand Zoo) in 2023

Dayak died at Wingham Wildlife Park in 2020.

Njamuk moved to Monde Sauvage in 2020. She is also known as Mücke.

I don't know anything about previous offspring of Tuan. Berani's sire is Batak, not Tuan.

Thank you for the info!
I didn't know Njamuk is Mücke. Mücke I know.
I ment to Kejutan from Hamburg, but finally I found he was Sinjo's offspring not Tuan's.

On 15 November, Kiwi, a female Bornean Orangutan born at Rio Safari Elche in Spain last December to Nakal and Indah-Tessa, arrived at Monkey World in Dorset after being rejected by her mother. She is being hand reared alongside Monkey World's other infant orangutan Sibu Junior (who arrived from Dublin Zoo last month) until both are old enough to live with the park's other nursery orangutans.

I didn't find the 2025 orangutan topic, so I mention these news here.

Bornean:
Some time after Guru's death, Sóstó Zoo made an examination for Sabatini and it showed she is still fertile. The zoo won't get a new male. The young male Mr Miyagi(born in Münster) already lives there with Maya. He will be the only breeding male of the zoo and change between the two females time by time.

Vienna is without a breeding male but they don't want a new male in the following some years because of the two young female offsprings of Vladimir. Anyway the zoo keeps separately the two mothers and their babies. It makes me sad, because they can't play together, but honestly not a surprise. The zoo always had problems too keep all of their orangutans together. 1-2 individuals were always separated or hidden in the last 15 years.

Dublin and Rhenen(young male Sabbar is still there) are also don't have any breeding males at the moment. Does anybody know anything about their plans?

Sumatran:
Budapest Zoo will probably get a new breeding male soon. Lia and Lone are only two together, after the tragic death of Chuij and Moira.

I guess Pairi Daiza will also get soon a new breeding male. After the death of Gempa, the females: Sinta, Jula and Molli are without a male. I'm so curious who will move there. I heared rumours about Berani, but when I asked the zoo they didn't confirm me this information. They said these are only rumours.

Yesterday Struppi and Sayang from Neunkirchen Zoo moved to Norvegia.

München Zoo also doesn't have a breeding male. They still have 3 offsprings of Bruno. The two older are males Quentin and Quin. Firstly they need to move somewhere.

Does anybody have any more information about the mentioned zoos?
