Khao Kheow Forest & Wildlife Reserve Park Khao Kheow Open Zoo news

Very interesting read! Thanks for sharing.

According to the kurator, the male at Khao Kheow is a purebred hubbaki. They indeed tried to find female in Thailand, but without success.

The hubbaki groups in Negara and Melaka also disappeared and this is transfer is very positive signal.
I do hope that both the Thai and Malaysian Departments of Forestry and Wildlife reinstate an ex situ conservation breeding component the Malaysian gaur ssp. hubbacki really requires both in situ and ex situ work.

New Penguin exhibit
They plan to build a new penguin exhibit, scheduled for 2025 to early 2026, with plans to show Macaroni penguin as part of the display.

Edit :
New animal
0.1 Red panda from Higashiyama Zoo (Japan) (Not yet 100% certain whether it is a Chinese red panda or a Himalayan red panda.)
Thank you for the information. Since she came from Higashiyama, she is 100% a Chinese red panda. Is there any news article about her arrival? I was surprised because Higashiyama hasn't made any announcement about it.

She is currently a little over one year old and arrived in Thailand around September or October this year. She has not yet been put on display. There are plans to find her a partner first, and once that is arranged, they will be exhibited together.

Was she really exported from Japan? Only two were born in Japan last year, and both are still living in different zoos in Japan. If she did come from Japan, the information that she is about 1 year old might be incorrect.

It's very interesting information. I'll try to look for more details about it.
