On November 18th, it was announced that the aquarium rehabilitated and released a Kemp's ridley sea turtle back into the wild.
4.5K views · 72 reactions | After almost two years of recovery, a critically endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle affectionately named Cilantro is now back home in the Gulf of Mexico! Cilantro came to Audubon Aquarium Rescue (AAR) in December 2022 as part of a cold stun sea turtle group from New England Aquarium. Cilantro developed osteomyelitis in the left shoulder joint that required an extensive treatment plan including cold laser therapy and physical therapy. Rain or shine, Audubon Aquarium Rescue is committed to the conservation and protection of marine mammals and sea turtles through rescue, rehab, and stranding response. We would like to remind the public to report all stranded marine mammals and sea turtles (live or dead) to Audubon Aquarium Rescue at 877-942-5343 | Audubon Nature Institute

It is the first such public display highlighting coral restoration work in the region.
