Toledo Zoo Guide

I just went back through the old Toledo Zoo News forums and I found the original plan for the carnivore exhibit that the zoo is planning on building. It would have originally been home to the zoo’s tigers along with the zoo’s grizzly and Kodiak bears.I was looking at the renderings for the Toledo Zoo’s Masterplan and in the new carnivore attraction that I assume will be the future home for the zoo’s tigers. I saw an exhibit in the back that looks like it could be for an animal like a fishing cat or a snow leopard.
The exhibit would have a “museum-like” setting to include informational stands about the animals and their life in the wild, according to event organizers.
It would’ve taken up the current employee parking lot that is slated to be used for the current new carnivore exhibit. The construction was supposed to start in November of 2020 and finish in may of 2023.
I wondered why the bears were in the zoo’s rendering for this exhibit, while having a separate exhibit for them in the master plan. My guess is that those renderings were older than the current plan, but again just my guess.
I have talked with a zoo employee and I was told that they are trying to buy land from residents on Spencer Street. I haven’t heard if they have any success but I’m hoping to get some news in the near future.
