Someone on the Laafsekikkers forum asked when bookings would start for the Sanctuary, and the answer was July 1st. They now have also started to work on the Sanctuary in the weekend it seems, so it might be possible that it gets finished by the summer... You never know with Pairi Daiza!

Even Pairi Daiza can't make plants grow faster than they potentially can, so even if they might finish construction in summer, it will more resemble a grassland than a rainforest...

Eric Domb sent a message on Pairi Daiza's official Facebook. Suprisingly, the message also contains a teaser to something new: The Lost Worlds (Les Terrres Disparues) that will be opened at the beginning of next season in february. Does anybody know what this is? A Natural History Museum? Something else?
The full part about the Lost lands, translated into English:
"And from the beginning of the next season, the Lost Lands will open up to you for a fascinating journey into the past. You will discover the powerful animals of the Ice Age and dinosaurs from another age, each in their own universe, witnesses of worlds that are no more but continue to resonate in our imagination."

My guess - the unstoppable march of terrible animatronics across the zoological landscape :D:p

Ah yes, now that I think about it, this seems the most likely. I even think Pairi Daiza has done this in the past already. The way of wording just confused me, it was phrased like they were opening a new exhibit or something, but is likely because of translation errors.

ELEPHANT ODYSSEY TWO LET'S GOOOOOOOO -

I am curious if they'll actually incorporate live animals alongside the inevitable animatronics - I know Amersfoort has tortoises alongside their dinosaur trail...

I don't think it's a case of translation errors, merely the usual "PR making something sound more impressive than it is":D

Can confirm the translation is more or less perfect - not convinced it'll be anything besides animatronics though. Not sure how publicised these changes are normally though?

the new Facebook banner of Pairi Daiza seems to show a dinosaur. Is this a teaser for the lost world that is coming at the start of the new season? Surely they wouldn't give so much teasers if it's only animatronics right?

Not sure if we really will get the real dinosaurs. I guess it will be more like a demonstration of the ice ages, like mammoths, sabretooths, dire bears, etc… but it would be amazing to see a real size Brachiosaurus or T-Rex anyway.

Here is an article about Pairi Daiza and their CEO Eric Domb that I found on the website of Knack magazine this morning. I will translate the title for you.

I found a free article about the same.
Experts pleiten voor doden van overtollige dierentuindieren: populairste dierenpark van de Benelux reageert
And essentially both are an overview of this Facebook post

All these articles show once again that the director of PD know little about zoology and zoos in general.

I understand his opinion, Eric Domb thinks more in an emotional and commercial view. Killing of a 13 year old lion for example that has no health issues and is in top condition is unnecessary in my opinion too. And the visitors would be shocked of course. I won’t kill my dog for example because he is old. I would let him euthanize by teh vet when there’s no way we can help him. But you are right, that’s how it works in zoos.

Reading this article, I would think the guy is vegan and doesn't serve any animal products in his zoo restaurants :p

As a sidenote, reading this article, I also know now who writes every single press release of Pairi Daiza....

The problem is that not every zoo has infinite amounts of money and land like Pairi Daiza. In some cases there simply is no space for some animals, or in some cases zoos don't have the money to pay for the expensive care of an elderly animal.
