SeaWorld Ancol Seaworld Jakarta

In case you're wondering what happened to the original GPO exhibit, it now houses two humphead wrasses (one adult and one sub-adult) and a group of five orbiculate batfish.

Those japanese crabs should've been moved to a larger exhibit when they grew up. This exhibit is obviously too small for japanese spider crabs. I hope this exhibit houses garden eels + razorfishes when the japanese spider crabs grows larger in the future.

^^ This Jakarta aquarium themed zone should be converted into a japanese spider crab exhibit that also be housing cape cape elephantfishes and longspine snipefishes. The japanese spider crabs trio in BX Sea would be moved here.

Should SWA reacquire pinecone fishes or nautiluses, they should be housed there. The spider crabs will move to their original exhibit and the octopus goes to the original exhibit from 2011-2019. The humphead wrasses might be moved to the ray tank or the main tank.

Nautliuses and pineconefishes can be housed in the current pufferfish exhibit. The GPO indeed should returned to it's original exhibit. Please post your wishes for SWA in this thread: Wishes for Indonesian zoos & aquariums (Fantasy)

SeaWorld Ancol has now put an adult green sea turtle back on display, in the tank that are designated for the aquarium's zebra shark, rays, and some schooling fish (This tank was originally mainly a sea turtle tank after the last dugong left in 2019). There was an young green sea turtle in the touch pool, hopefully taken off-display for a more special care and reduce the risk of stress by this time.

Looks like the rays has been moved into the main tank and the tank now houses said turtle and 2 to 3 zebra sharks along with smaller fishes such as pompanos, fusiliers, scads and surgeonfish. I hope they move the hawksbill turtles here and the zebra sharks to SharkQuarium.

SeaWorld Ancol has announced the return of a SeaWorld Indonsia era creature: the Leafy Sea Dragon (though they also kept Weedy Sea Dragons in the past) in celebration of Lunar New Year (shoulda done this last year cuz 2025 is the Year of the Snake). This is very unexpected considering SeaWorld hasn't kept them again since their sea dragons that they kept since 2005/2006 died back in 2010 during the arrival of the first Giant Pacific Octopus.

They're only listed as "biota of the month", likely as part of this year's Year of the Snake (I knew that they're unrelated, but I guess the management at SeaWorld Ancol think otherwise). I should be waiting on further announcement from SeaWorld with real footage of the seadragons, should likely be given around that given dates (25-29 January 2025).

Due to how reportedly difficult the maintenance of leafy and weedy seadragons are, we'll see how they maintain seadragons if they indeed coming to Ancol.

JAQS' Weedy Seadragons are still around until now, though their Leafy Seadragons perished around 2020 or 2021

SWA should've acquired reticulated phytons for this chinese new year because it's the year of snakes and housed them in the former otter exhibit that used to housed aligator gars. The water in the exhibit should be dried-out.

No need. Retics love water too!

I've visited SeaWorld Ancol, here's some minor updates:
  • An new addition, and very large alligator snapping turtle, has been added in one of the wetland exhibit.

  • There appears to be some constructions in the original octopus tank. It's recent inhabitants, the humphead wrasse and some platax batfish, has been moved to moray eel tank and sea turtle tank, respectively.

Love that snapping turtle! Though the exhibit is a tad shallow for it. Probably the exhibit destined for the sea dragons will be the former spider crab exhibit, with the spider crabs moving to the adjacent exhibit and probably the octopus is stuck in its 2010 exhibit that was the old sea dragon exhibit from 2005-2010.

Not to mention that the exhibit is cramped for a single large turtle.

The single Japanese spider crab is still there in the small tank, the renovation only took place in the humphead wrasse tank (The original octopus tank).

I see.. only one left. I assume the other one died?
