Most exotic animals seen on the pet trade

I personally know someone who has a New Guinea singing dog as a pet. Apparently they had an accidental litter with their domestic dog and they kept all of the pops because they couldn't rehome them in good conscience because of the high needs of the breed.
I have seen Fennec Foxes, Spider monkeys and Squirrel Monkeys up for sale, all on exotics for sale.

A youtuber recently got a Silky Anteater, never new it was possible to get these guys in the states
here's the video if you want to watch it, the Silky appears around the 19 minute mark, he is mostly talking and showing off a tamandua beforehand, the information is interesting though.

so apparently the Silky Anteater is now for sale on Cold Blooded Kingdom. I believe it is the same one that the youtuber had as it mentioned them having it for a year now.
Silky Anteater - Cyclopes didactylus

If I recall correctly, it was an adult upon arrival. Being in their care for another year makes this species already quite old. The longest lifespan measured so far is only 2 years and a few months.

i know its probably not the most outlandish animal thats been mentioned, but ive seen several facilities that sell reptiles having alligators of varying life span ( under 2m usually) caiman and anaconda

I think I saw those as well. I've seen people selling capybara before, which I've always thought was weird.

Here's an ad for a 3 week old green monkey for sale: http://www.exoticanimalsforsale.net/sale/32100-Baby-green-female-4-000.asp. Makes me sick. I've never seen that species for sale, I'm curious about where she or her parents are from. Another weird species I saw for sale was owl monkey.

Kapi'yva Exotics has some extreme rarities, like warthogs, Palawan porcupines, and fishing cats.

And here's a bongo: http://www.exoticanimalsforsale.net/sale/31967-Bongo.asp
It's not uncommon at all to find vervet monkeys (green monkeys) or owl monkeys for sale as pets. You said you wondered about those animals and their parents - they are owned and sold by private breeders and there are quite a few of them in Florida, Texas, Tennessee as well as several other states. Any of the states where it is legal to own pet monkeys (about half of the US states) you will find private monkey breeders!

I’ve just seen supposedly some of the first captive bred Lesser Antillean Iguanas in the pet trade at a specialist reptile shop in Kent. This same shop also sells Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boas, Fischer’s Dwarf Chameleons and Höhnell’s Chameleons

I imagine they must make awful pets, it'd be like having a pet box of dirt.
I remember seeing a YouTube video where a guy bought three of them off MorphMarket, and did a whole '60 day experiment.'

As for exotic/weird pets I've seen, a pet shop near me (which does deal predominantly on the more herp and fish side of things) once had poison dart frogs (don't remember which species though), an Asian Vine Snake, and a trio of small geckos which were labelled as Yellow-headed Gecko Gonatodes albogularis.
