Are there any Coconut Crabs in UK zoos outside of Paignton?
Based on the media, Wingham Wildlife Park had them in 2017 but I don't know if it's true anymore. Apparently in 2011, there were coconut crabs at SEA LIFE Blackpool though that might have been for the Claws exhibit (was it temporary?).Are there any Coconut Crabs in UK zoos outside of Paignton?
Oh that’s right I remember Wingham had one briefly. They are slowly being introduced into the pet trade, I think they make a fascinating zoo displayBased on the media, Wingham Wildlife Park had them in 2017 but I don't know if it's true anymore. Zooparque (Itatiba) and Emperor Valley Zoo (Port of Spain) apparently have them according to ZoochatIs there any zoo that currently keeps silky anteaters?
San Diego has at least 3 in one of the small Australian aviaries when i went in AugustModerator note: continued from here - Are These in Captivity?
Are common bronzewings kept in the US?
Is there any zoo that currently keeps silky anteaters?
They are more common in the US but there were comb jellies at Rotterdam Zoo in 2017, and Mnemiopsis leidyi at Barcelona Aquarium (pre-2017). Additionally in 2011, there was warty comb jellies at L' Oceanografic Valencia. They aren't common but they can probably be accessed from the nearby bodies of saltwater (ie. Atlantic Ocean) if there is interestAre Comb jellyfish held commonly in European aquaria? I vaguely recall "American comb jelly" being held in Aquarium de la Rochelle but that's the only example I can think of
Altough @MOG2012 has already answered this, there's some things that I'd like to say about Silky anteaters in captivity:
The last news that I could find about the animal living in Emperor Valley Zoo dates up to a post on their facebook account in 2021, and the info about this zoo here on ZooChat is even older than that, so even though there is a chance I could be wrong, I think that this animal is no longer kept in Trinindad & Tobago. This leaves us with Zooparque Itatiba, in Brazil, of which I can confirm to you that this species is kept, since Itatiba gives updates about their animal frequently on their Instagram profile. They have a single male individual named "Yoyo", who was rescued from the animal traffic and couldn't be reintroduced in nature. As I have said before, I could be wrong, but as of now, I'd say we're safe to assume that "Yoyo" is the only Silky anteater kept by a zoo in the entire world.
I've seen quite a lot of rare and weird animals being sold in the exotic pets market, but that's definitely the first time I've seen a Silky anteater being sold! I wonder what's the origin of this individual (and if there's one being sold "officially", there's for sure a lot more illegally...)While I knowit is not at a zoo and is not publicly on display, there is at least one Silky Anteater available for sale at this time.
Silky Anteater - Cyclopes didactylus
As I understand it the individual has been stateside for over two years now.
Is Cold-Blooded Shop a trustworthy and *ethical*/lawful place? While I know it is not at a zoo and is not publicly on display, there is at least one Silky Anteater available for sale at this time.

I've ever only heard of their name, never of their reputation.

while I don't know the full story, all of their bornean earless monitors originated from legal captive bred stock, it was fairly big news in the reptile industry a few years ago when legal animals with CITES permits finally started popping up. The Silky Anteater was actually imported by a youtuber named Justin Igulada, he eventually gave this animal aswell as a sloth he imported to Cold Blooded Shop. I know that the retail store got taken over by a new reptile business and now all of CBS's stuff is done through their online store if I recall. The high prices for a lot of the animals is because they do a lot of imports and captive breeding, but they also do medicate and make sure the animals are in good standing before being sold. I have not heard of any controversies surrounding them.Given they currently offer Bornean Earless Monitors, I'm inclined to doubt they're fully above board. Also their site claims they are a USDA certified importer - but I cannot find that their name/address has ever been inspected, despite housing a mammal for 2 years. And mind you, all importers get inspected, I see Underground Reptiles there. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm inclined to suspect not all is as it should be.

There are Galapagos Iguanas with "legal CITES permits", among other species - I may be misremembering but I thought all the Earless Monitors outside Indonesia were derived from illegal exports, despite claims otherwise. I seem to recall considerable debate on the subject. If anyone has contrary and/or updated information please do share.
