One criticism / feedback in foresight: the pace of change and that all elephants will only be together for winter 2025 Antipodes-style just does not much appeal to me. All the zoos have done the best they can for their individual Elephants with the limitations they have had. Permai has been lovingly cared for by her keepers at Perth Zoo who have done everything they can to make her comfortable in the difficult two and a half years she has lived alone since Tricia died, and same can be said for their caring for Putra Mas. Same with Pak Boon & Tang Mo's keepers at Taronga (and Burma's at Auckland, moving to Monarto to stay with her and help her settle in comfortably). As we all know and the end of the day it'll be up to these Eles' to decide if they wish to form a herd together or not and if they will bond successfully or not. Either way (of course we all want the former turnout will all our hearts) Monarto is prepared and these Eles' will have a safe and comfy' future like their keepers have been doing with all their energy and dedication all this time and up until they move very soon.

Some zoos obtain Dingo from captive facilities; while others take in wild pups that have been rescued. Adelaide Zoo did this in 2021, acquiring two pups that had been found in Alice Springs. The pups required a 30 day quarantine upon arrival at the zoo.

Breeding season is March to May, followed by a gestation of around 63 days, so the second half of 2025 is a likely timeframe for receiving pups.

I imagine there’s a degree of leeway to account for the possibility of her not entering her crate on the day. Animals have a way of knowing something is up and she will sense a change is coming.

The air conditioned crate means weather conditions will be largely negligible, bar extreme weather events and leaving early in the morning will negate any issues around Perth’s rush hour. The journey, with any allocated pit stops will presumably take into account the same upon arrival at Monarto Safari Park (Burma arrived early evening).

Agree, city zoos are not good for tusk preservation. Now that he's moving it should ensure he keeps them (and potentially carries on the genes).
